So I recently heard the Brainwashed album for the first time yesterday, and it just about blew my mind. I have to say I like it a little better than Cloud 9, but not as much as All Things Must Pass or Living in the Material World. And speaking of the latter album, I see Brainwashed (the song) as kind of a sequel to Living in The Material World. Both songs have the same general theme, and have sections of Indian music. Anyone else feel this way?
YAY! I’m glad you finally found your way to George’s final (you know what I mean) album. Brainwashed is the only of his studio albums that I currently own on CD, though I plan to soon change that. It’s quite possibly my favourite– it always makes me feel better; if the man can be that much at peace when facing death, then my piffling vexations don’t matter or even exist, relatively speaking. And then of course it’s the first Harrison I ever was exposed to so there’s that.
I agree about the title track, I see it and LITMW in the same vein as well.

Good to hear about all of ye listening to more George music- it’s good for the soul I hear >.>
On Tuesday I was walking to uni and as I walked past the amazing pub that is Sally Long’s (I’ve posted their legendary mural before but here it is again for those of you who haven’t seen it)
(And yes that is God and Elvis at the top 😛 )
](They are going to have to move barkeep Bowie up to the second tier I think 🙁 )
Anyways as I was walking past it there were a group of people singing outside having a couple of pints and there was a speaker blasting music and they were playing…wait for… Rising Sun, I mean I caught a second of it and I thought “Christ that sounds like George’s ‘Rising Sun’ but who knows that song? It’s no ‘My Sweet Lord ‘ ” so I kept on walking and then I stopped and I heard “ooooh the Rising Sun” and I did a little internal scream.
I hung around for a bit listening to it, the sun was shining down and it was great!
Moving on I forgot to post my Happy Birthday post to Pattie yesterday so here is a late one:
Hope you had a great one Pattie!

^I’d not seen that one. (1968 I’d say, judging by the hair and that terrific jacket… I want one)
But it’s true, I have seen an awful lot of George pictures…
You Know You’re A Hardcore Harrifan When: the best parts of the Imagine album are anytime George touches a guitar.

^ Nice one 🙂
They have a ‘Last Supper’ rockstar-style murale on the inside as well- it’s class.
Someday, the European Biblers should have a meetup in a city, that’s easy and cheap enough for everyone to get to. If we planned it a year in advance the majority of people should be able to get to it.

Thought i’d post the answer but better to test the George fans knowledge so NO CHEATING BY LOOKING UP THE ANSWER SO YOU LOOK CLEVER.
In an interview in 1992 which song did George say he played his best slide guitar solo on and what album is it on? For bonus points who was the interview with?

Isn’t it ‘Leave A Light On’ by Belinda Carlisle which is on the Runaway Horses album? I used to have that track on my phone but I got rid of it to make space.
I can’t remember the interviewer but wasn’t it in Guitar World magazine?
(15 year old ASJ will be ecstatic if she’s correct, I knew reading/watching every interview that George ever did was a good idea!)

Being on a bit of a Run Of The Mill kick– didn’t Olivia say it was one of her absolute favourites of George’s? That it was sort of the perfect summation of George’s everything or something like that?
I can see why, ’tis gorgeous and ever so Harrisonic.

Yes @Beatlebug!! Run Of The Mill probably should have been the first song on it’s own LP. I saw a movie last month called Infinitely Polar Bear. It’s about a father who is bipolar and his youngest daughter misunderstands what that means (thus the name of the movie). Run Of The Mill plays over the closing credits after the moving climax and needless to say I didn’t leave till the song was over. I’ve listened to it everyday since then – George is really reaching me on this one as well

I heard Run Of The Mill played as part of the pre-show music at a concert once. I thought it was really cool, because it’s not exactly the most well-known George Harrison song.

Yeah, same– I just worship Sir Ricky Crisps but then there’s What Is Life , which is in my top five Harrisongs ever, and Isn’t It A Pity , and the title track, and Apple Scruffs , and…

My Austrian penpal got a ukulele so I told her one of my favourite songs was ‘Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea’, she listened to it, she said she really liked it and now she’s going to learn.

Yesss!
Devil And The Deep Blue Sea was the first song I learnt on uke. It continues to be my favourite go-to ukesong.
(She says, acting as though she can play dozens of songs on the uke, when she doesn’t even have one)
And after I *appreciated* Paul yestereven, ‘This Song’ came on and I was back in Harriform.
