I am neither fiendish nor much thingy but I have been listening to a lot of George lately. Does anyone know much about who played on This Is Love? Obsessed with that song right now.
I imagine the personnel would look something like this:
George Harrison : guitar, slide guitar, vocals, general fabosity
Jim Keltner: percussion
Jeff Lynne: wizardry
That song is pretty awesome, despite the super-80s production, which I actually don’t mind too much even though I generally can’t stand anything that reeks of the 1980s. And the whole Cloud Nine album does. But I don’t mind because it’s

It’s a great album even for the 80’s production yeah! Its very Lynne too, you can pick his production style a mile away. I was looking for the bassplayer on that song particularly and it seems to have been Lynne himself! And I hadn’t even realized that Elton John played piano on Cloud 9, Devil’s Radio and Wreck of the Hesperus!

Izzat so? Interesting. Yeah, I’ve only heard it on fairly crappy speakers and the bass is more or less inaudible– which is a crime– but the other day I had on Silly Mum’s ear-buds which I’d snitched and I actually got an inkling of bass, it was terrific. Can’t wait to get the album– but it’s going to have to wait till after WTB, LIB , Past Masters , ATMP , 33 & 1/3, George Harrison , Somewhere In England … oh crikey.

The other day I discovered Take Good Care Of My Baby from the Decca audition, and it must be one of the best covers ever. George’s voice is just pure beauty, and that’s probably the reason I like it so much.
And I’m gonna leave the best video ever uploaded to Youtube for everyone to enjoy

Brackets is my favourite swear word. I can’t say it as emphatically as George though, not being born and raised in Liverpool, and having an (alas!) American accent.

Yay! ‘George Harrison Saying Brackets For Five Minutes’ number four in this thread! If I post another one, we will have George Harrison Saying Brackets For Twenty-Five Minutes, All Told’.
Also, sorry about this post— I have such feelings a lot and it really felt good to get them all out. This morning I was reading one of my Beatles books and it said ‘The Beatles remain the world’s favourite band, 40 years after they broke up’– I was fine with this– ’30 years after John Lennon’s death’– I was fine with this– ‘and 10 years after we lost George Harrison’– and I just broke out into a wail of ‘noooooooooo’. Like I didn’t know it before…

Q: They always talk about you as being the ‘real musician’ of the group, and if you haven’t studied music… what do they mean by this?
George: I dunno– it’s probably ’cause I didn’t smile so much…
My fellow Harrifans, if you haven’t already, set aside half an hour and watch the whole thing. It’s brilliant. LuvyerGeorge

A Harrisong that, like many of George’s wise words, is still as relevant now as it was then… “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth).”

@CheerDown783 That is one of my favourite Harrisongs ever. The crisp acoustic rhythm guitar overlaid by that classic gleaming slide, and his plaintive, heartfelt singing– I am awed by his music, soul, and legacy every time I hear it. (Not to mention Nicky Hopkins’ excellent piano and Klaus Voormann going crazy-awesome on the bass.)
Of course, I love all his songs, more or less…
Edit: Gosh, that sounds sappy when put down, but I really mean it from the depths of my Silly Soul. I swear!

Agreed! His musical legacy is phenomenal… and it’s impossible to narrow it down to “one favorite” song, isn’t it?

This is a stunningly sublime song (and another of my many favorites)… so underrated, too, as is much of George’s musical output (by non-fans, at any rate).

If this has been posted previously, apologies; but then, there can’t be too many listens, can there? 🙂 Another utterly gorgeous Harrisong for the moment… “Your Love Is Forever”:

Wonderful track from ‘Brainwashed‘ with great lyrics.
‘Rocking Chair In Hawaii’
I’m going down to the river gonna take me my rocking chair
Going down to the river gonna take me my rocking chair
And if those blues don’t leave me
Gonna rock on away from here(The reasons why I love you)
If you want me woman please don’t act so shy
If you want me woman please Don’t Pass Me By
I love those sideways glances (Yeah)
Your shoulder and your thigh(The reasons why I love you)
I see inside your eyes, the Baba’s Sai
The reasons why I love youSo if you’re still busy hiding what it is you’ve got
If you’re frightened of losing what you like a lot
You may be cruising backwards
While thinking that you’re not(The reasons why I love you)
I see into your eyes, the Baba Sais
The reasons why I love youSo if you don’t get the picture, you won’t know what I feel
If you don’t get the picture, then you won’t have a depth of field
You may be going some place
Some place you’ve already been

As you all might know, I have challenged SG to a George-trivia contest, in order to defend my throne.
An agreed time and date will be arranged where we each ask each other trivia questions, with a 2 minute timespan to answer. Whoever doesn’t/can’t answers loses.
No help is allowed, under the penalty of death!
Now while we wait here is a brief George-interlude:
