<trim>This thread nowadays is reminding me a lot of when it was first set up by Egroeg, fabfouremily and I. I haven’t looked at the first 15 pages of this thread in over a year because of the sheer embarrassment it has caused me.
<snip>
Is that a bad thing? Should I attempt to fan-girl over George in a more musically-centred, scholarly way? Or should I just leave?
Don’t get me wrong, I can be mature and pensive. I can leave all sentiment behind and examine George’s fabosity from a purely artistic point of view. I just don’t feel this is the place to be mature and pensive…

"Stop throwing jelly beans at me"- George Harrison

Is it me or George’s Facebook page wants to give people a heart attack?
And now I’m here I might as well post some pictures and a little funny story.
And here’s the story: At school I have this friend who I share likes with (she’s not much of a Beatles fan and prefers Michael Jackson, but I talked to her about Yellow Submarine and told me she may watch it) and in the breaks we sometimes write in the blackboard, and she always writes MJ or something like that, so I decided to write “George”, but very small. In that, my other friend comes and, seeing it, shouts “George”, and now with another friend they are like “Where’s George?” and they draw funny faces and call “him” George, but here’s the thing, they don’t know who the George I was talking about is.

@Beatlebug Nope, it’s just that 1965 George, well, how to say it, he’s so… I don’t know If fab is the right word, but, you know, it’s just that he’s so g(e)orgeous (though, I think everyone here already knows that).

I think fab is very much the right word.
George, to me, is the very embodiment of fabosity (which my spell-check says is not a word, but I don’t care). He’s just… how shall I put it?… fab.

I need to meet your friend, I’m a massive Michael Jackson fan.
I don’t listen to his music as obsessively as I did then.
Nobody else I knew liked MJ so I was kind of left in the dark until secondary school where I met a girl who had listened to the ‘Dangerous’ album- yep we’re still best friends.
To add to the George-theme:

I was going to give a dissertation on how fascinating George’s eyes are, but then I got interrupted and now I can’t remember what I was talking about.

I was going to give a dissertation on how fascinating George’s eyes are, but then I got interrupted and now I can’t remember what I was talking about.
I think it was something along the lines of…
A Calm and Collected Dissertation on George’s Eyes:
They’re fascinating.
Just kidding, it was really much more scientific than that. Something about how eyes are sort of the most important thing in a person’s face– not important, that’s not the right word… but though my head is filled with things to say, all the words seem to slip away. (Side note: Klaus Voormann apparently knew this quite well… see Revolver …)
George’s eyes have a very mysterious, dramatic quality to them, which none of the other Beatles have. John appears to glare, intimidatingly (it’s actually just his myopic squint), and Paul’s gaze is deceptively gentle– he’s got that Shetland pony thing going on, with THOSE eyelashes. George looks directly at you, and yet his stare has a veiled quality– like he’s thinking things (about you, and possibly everyone else in the room) that he’s not saying. Or that he’s hiding something– or maybe not hiding, but just choosing not to reveal, something… or all of the above. Anyway, it’s all very George.
(I’m being objective here, can you tell? *melts*)
Edit: 1313 posts! It must be good luck. Or bad luck. Or something. Anyway, funny number!

This Song is hilarious. I love it. George’s sense of humour is….. something else.

Crackerbox Palace is pretty hilarious too, though, nothing beats the orange duck in Blow Away (who had the great idea of putting a big duck in that video?).

^There went that preposterous notion that George was a serious person…
I enjoyed the “Crackerbox Palace” video more than “Blow Away”, I think because the one for “Blow Away” didn’t really seem to suit the song. I didn’t hear it as being humorous– quite the contrary. Whereas “Crackerbox Palace” is kind of George being jocular and singing with a half-grin on his face. (Which he does throughout the video… and I find that incredibly charming… that helps, too… )
Anyway, in other news, I just discovered “Marwa Blues” is the best thing since sliced bread. Or something. I like instrumentals.
EDIT: And now “Crackerbox Palace” is stuck in my head. Majorly.

I think the video works for ‘Blow Away’.
All I got to do is to love you
All I got to be is, be happy
All it’s got to take is some warmth to make it
Blow Away, Blow Away, Blow Away.
And what could more warm the soul and make you happy than a huge feckin’ duck flapping it’s wings next to George as he sings. And just to keep things going he decides to go for a ride in a giant swan before playing the guitar on a huge dog.
Absolutely no idea what the hell is going on there but its definitely going to help you lose your blues, if only for a few minutes.

To each his (or her) own. *shrugs*
As for the Crackerbox Palace video– I find it a bit creepy how incredibly charming George is trying to be. At first I thought it was funny, but now I’m a bit unnerved. He’s giving off this vibe of
which we don’t see often from George. Usually he’s a bit more modest about it…
(Gotta love the Pepper reference(?] at 2:47 though.)

I love the Crackerbox Palace video- it’s like George was sitting in a meeting with a bunch of publicists and all that, sitting around trying to come with an accompanying music video for his next single.
“So what’ll we do?”
“I’ve got some weird elf and Halloween costumes and I live in a savage mansion- why don’t we just put Neil Innes into that mix and see what comes out of it?
“Alright *shrugs*”
And that’s how it happened folks!
Actually if I was Dhani I would not be able to watch that video I mean there’s your mam in lingerie casually draped around a bedpost- ick!

C.O.W. (Currently Obsessed With) (and if you can think of a less bovine acronym, by all means, tell me) update:
Myself: Blow Away (It’s just… beautiful, and incredibly Harrisonic. Listen for yourself.)
Little Girl: Got My Mind Set On You (she’s gone troppo on it.)
And I LOVE the phrase “gone troppo”.
