Since this is a George only thread, I guess a good question would be why is George your favorite Beatle. He is mine for a number of reasons, mostly due to being very innovative, his spiritual life and having a lot more to do with the groups songs then we were led to believe. I look forward to everyone’s responses since Lennon and McCartney seem to get most of the attention.

George is my favourite Beatle because of his personality, I think that what’s made me favour him over the other but in my earlier Beatle fan days Ringo was my favourite . George always had something interesting or funny to say, he didn’t say anything unless it was important which is what gave him “The Quiet Beatle” title I guess. He was funny, cute and smart which is very hard to get all three traits into one person. His music always interested me as well, Ringo just sang whatever was given to him, Paul sang love songs, completely obscure songs or songs about peoples’ lives, John wrote very interesting lyrics but George’s music completely drew me to him, his first song “Don’t Bother Me ” telling people to basically piss off not a very Beatlesque song or theme especially in ’63. His solo music was also amazing at how he could make a song have two themes a religious song and a love song. If you were not the least bit religious you could always think of it as a love song, which is what (I think) made his music appeal to more people. Plus the fact that he’s a ride doesn’t hurt either (what I’m a shallow 15 year old girl )

I wouldn’t say he’s my ”favourite” beatle as I don’t have one but I know that:
– He’s gorgeous (there’s the teenage me talking)
– He was very funny (as were they all, but still…)
– Down-to-earth and all-round personality
– Brilliant musician and songwriter, although he took a little while longer that Paul and John to develop
– He has inspired me to look at the world and living in a different manner, and no one/nothing else had ever done that before
– I love him

And ending my George triple post:
Apparently the most misheard lyric in any George song is from “Devil’s Radio” many people think “Gossip, gossip” is “God sh*t, god sh*t”
And some inspiring quotes by George:
“If a car comes past me in a traffic jam with a boom box going, I jump out of my skin. Those big booming basses. I’m just more sensitive to noise these days.”
“I wanted to be successful, not famous.”
“The thing that pleases me the most about it is that young people like it. It’s given kids from 6 to 16 an alternate view of music to what’s been available for the past 20 years” (damn right)

*AMAZING guitarist.
*Wonderful lyricist.

*I’ve always found his religious and spiritual beliefs intriguing.
*He loved nature.
*Like Emily said, he inspired me to look at things differently.
*All-around great person.

“I think people who can truly live life in music are telling the world, ‘You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don’t need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it’s the very best, and it’s the part I give.”
My favorite quote changes often.

I don’t have a favorite Beatle, but I admire George for his spirituality, his thoughtful nature, his humor and even his eccentricity.
I was listening to All Things Must Pass in the car today. I love that album more and more every time, and it’s quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites. I’m not huge on the Apple Jams, but of the first two discs, there’s not a single song I don’t like. I discovered ATMP when The Concert for George was streamed for free on the anniversary of George’s death, and I immediately got a copy. I’m always struck not only by the depth of emotion but the range of styles. Beware Of Darkness is my favorite song, but I also love the title track, Isn’t It A Pity , Wah-Wah , The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp and Let It Down .

George is my joint favourite Beatle (along with John). I love his approach of not taking any s**t whilst being serious about what he loved whilst retaining a fantastic sense of humour. I repeat it often but i loved how he came across in the Anthology which was we were so f*****g good and you know it so lets not be too serious about it.
Your favourite George Beatles song?
Difficult. Something or I Need You probably. I could list 5 or 6.
Favourite solo song(s)?
Isnt It A Pity (version 1), Deep Blue, Cheer Down, Fish On The Sand, Run Of The Mill , Someplace Else, Blow Away.
Favourite solo music video?
This Song is fun as is Crackerbox Palace.
Favourite solo album?
All Things Must Pass and Cloud Nine – far too close too call.
Favourite picture?
Beatle pic, well more era: 1964 to 1966.
Solo pic, well again era: Cloud Nine with the short beard and moustache, nailed the cool dad look.
Favourite quote
“Everyone has choice, when to and not to raise their voices, its you that decides.” from Run Of The Mill . I could quote the whole lyric as its simply brilliant and in my opinion one of the best he ever wrote.
"I told you everything I could about me, Told you everything I could" ('Before Believing' - Emmylou Harris)

My request for my local radio station was played today; George’s cover of “Got My Mind Set On You” they got loads of calls and texts afterwards from people saying that they remember that song being played all the time at discos in the late 80s/early 90s
