HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PATTIE! apple01heartpattie-boyd_02_gif

Here is a collective place to post birthday wishes, as well any pictures/videos you find and want to share. I’ll start by posting this montage of pictures of George and Pattie (still my favourite Beatle couple!) shortly after their marriage in 1966:

(And no, @Mr. Kite, this thread is not just for you! a-hard-days-night-george-10)

Mod Edit: This post previously began a thread titled “Patti Boyd hair enthusists [sic]?” That thread goes on until post 22. Post 23 resumes replies to pinned post 1.

I really don’t think I spelled that word right but anyway,

Does anyone else like Pattie’s hair? I really do, Using a curling Iron and teaseing my hair a little,Im able to copy some of her hairstyles like the loose rings on her wedding day to george, and hey Teased-in-the-back-and-staraight-in-the -front.

I reallt like them because they look complex, but they’re really easy to do. Plus you can wear them at any occasion.

But what about you guys?

I like her hair I must admit. My favorite hairstyle is the one with that small red French beret. I love it. My hair is too straight and the only way to curl it is with a perm.

I love her hair and make up here.

I always thought Pattie was gorgeous. She and George made a cute couple with great hair. If they had kids, their kid would have the greatest bone structure and hair ever.

I've read some of her “Beauty Box” articals, and I really like how you don't have to go out and buy anything because everthing she uses is pretty much already in your make-up bag.

Im decidind to get my hair cut like hers, my hair kind of is already ,two long layers. But I want to refine it to make it exactally like hers. I've benn told I resemble her, so I want to go all the way.

I read them too and they seem really easy.

I want to get my bangs like hers. My bangs at the moment are like all over the place and need to cut them. Hers are at a good length.

Thats really cool that you look like her. You should definitely try to recreate her hairstyle. Be the 2010 version of Pattie!

The way she wears the just below her eyebrows is very flattering to the eyes, whatever the color.

I'm slowly working my way up, I do want to be the 2010 version of her.

Used to have this hairstyle. I have nearly the same haircolour, so that’s cool. It looked good on me, and I still think I look way better with bangs than without, but man, they are such a pain in the ass. Especially if you’re putting on make up.

I’ve always liked her hair and style a lot.

Now that I’m on desktop I will post some visual aid as to why Pattie’s hair is something to be enthusiastic about! (After writing that sentence I feel like I should be doing something more important, but she’s too beautiful! Can’t stop now!)

This is the only thread I could find about Pattie, so I’ll plop this down right here.

The other morning, I heard Eric Clapton’s ‘Wonderful Tonight’, which of course was written about Pattie. What I did not know is, according to the DJ who told the story before playing the song, the “party” EC and PB were going to was the Buddy Holly party hosted by Paul McCartney . Supposedly, the inspiration came to EC while waiting for Pattie to get ready for the party. Has anyone else heard this? @Mr. Kite ? @Ron Nasty ? @meanmistermustard ? @Joe ? @anyone?

For those not familiar with the song, the lyrics are in the spoiler below.

It’s late in the evening
She’s wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her make up
And brushes her long blonde hair

And then she asks me, “Do I look alright?”
And I say, “Yes, you look wonderful tonight”

We go to a party
And everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady
That’s walking around with me

And then she asks me, “Do you feel alright?”
And I say, “Yes, I feel wonderful tonight”

I feel wonderful
Because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don’t realize how much I love you

It’s time to go home now
And I’ve got an aching head
So I give her the car keys
She helps me to bed

And then I tell her as I turn out the light
I say, “My darling, you are wonderful tonight
Oh my darling, you are wonderful tonight”

Not heard that before @Zig (i’m not a huge Clapton fan) but a google search brings up frequent mentions in sites and in books (eg ‘Penny Laine’s Anthology: A – Z, The Beatles Remembered‘).

Wiki writes

On 7 September 1976, Clapton wrote “Wonderful Tonight” for Boyd while waiting for her to get ready to attend Paul and Linda McCartney‘s annual Buddy Holly party.

but no source is given.

Mr. Kite, Zig

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Hey… look! pattie-boyd_02_gif a-hard-days-night-john-6

@Zig I remember from both Pattie’s and Clapton’s books that Clapton started writing the song as Pattie was taking a while to get ready for a party. I don’t remember either saying where they were meant to be going and believe they were late or possibly didn’t go as Eric kept writing. The last part I’m not 100% of, but I definitely don’t remember either saying where they were going.

Wish I had copies to consult, but they were both library books. Will post if I find anything different!

Yes. @Zig! I believe it was written about Eric waiting for Patti to go to Paul’s event for Buddy which would be Keith Moon’s last hours of life. It would be released around a year later.

Wow, Ron. I had no idea about the Keith Moon part of it. I’m a casual fan of The Who, so never knew the details leading up to his overdose. A Google search tells me he died the next morning.

Before the party one artist is inspired to write a beautiful song. After, another artist dies much too young. The juxtaposition stuns.
