^ Ok, Jesus, fine, I have to go to sleep but alright.
My own personal opinion, it wasn’t planned out or else he would have worn a similar funky-coloured trouser combo. Knowing his hoarding tendency it wouldn’t surprise me if his furry rooftop jacket is still somewhere in Friar Park or one of his friends has it.
He just liked the look of red and black together:

Would anyone happen to know who does the backing vocals on Brainwashed? I tried looking it up but I can’t find anything.
Love one another.

Predominantly George but for the vocals he didn’t get to record, Dhani and Jeff Lynne filled them in. Sam Brown also features on the title track.

You know the scene in the jeweler’s shop in Help , where George is filling his pockets in the background? Was that scripted?

As far as I know of no official script for Help ! has ever been published. The likelihood of George improvising searching through the drawers is slim- I think his ‘character’ was picked out as the one for the audience to pay attention to (even when the camera is not on him) as he often is doing silly things (like eating his cymbal) whereas the others are relatively stagnant and just react to whatever dialogue is happening, George often seems in a world of his own. I can imagine a reasoning for this would be to have fans going to see it more than once (which they would have done anyways, I mean, it was The Beatles) but they would hear on the schoolyard, “hey did you see the stupid things George was doing??” and you’d have to go buy a 2nd ticket to see what George was up to throughout.
HOWEVER, if you want to think that George was doing all of those things out of his own volition then go on ahead, it surely makes the film even better than it is.

Yeah, I wouldn’t imagine that George’s background business would be noted in the script – if it were important enough to be specifically written, it would most likely have been filmed in close with George foregrounded.
I’d say it was done at Dick Lester’s (literal) direction. George might have arrived at the creative choice independently, or in collaboration with his director, but Lester would still have to approve.

^ Now this one, I’m not 100% sure on as we have like 3 bad-quality photos of him. It’s obvious he’s a terrier, and the one that seems the most suitable is a Norfolk terrier.
But don’t quote me on it.
2 hours later edit: Winston was a yorkie, one of the Friar Park gardeners, Derek Mann, commented in Henley’s local newspaper.
“George had a pet Yorkshire terrier called Winston, John Lennon ’s middle name”.
I wouldn’t have thought he was a yorkie from the photos we have of him but there you go.

One of my favourite stories about Winston, apparently told by George but I’ve not seen the quote so it may be apocryphal, is that George had a rose in the grounds of Friar Park named McCartney, and when George would take him out into the grounds for a walk, he would always get Winston to relieve himself on McCartney.

Wait , is this Winston?
He looks a bit like a border collie to me… but it is very possible I’ve got the wrong dog.

19th September 1965. George had tea and toast (x2) for breakfast, spoke 17 words to Pattie then took 197 steps due east to a quiet space where he gently strummed his guitar whilst sitting legs crossed, tuned to the lower G, until the photos were taken. He coughed 17 times, blew his nose twice and sipped his cup of tea 32 times during it.
This is why Mark Lewisohn is taking so long.
