Happy birthday (almost) to the man who was my “gateway drug,” if you will, to the world of music and who got me through some of my most difficult times. I wouldn’t be who I am today if I’d never discovered George Harrison , and I am forever grateful.

Just started my George marathon for the day. My only wish is that I could hear it all for the first time again.
As for myself, I appreciate things more fully the more I hear them, so first listens aren’t very exciting for me usually — they’re just preliminaries.
I just got to his eponymous LP — I’m very happy. It’s my only Harrison vinyl, and I suspect it’s my favourite album of his as well…

Offline We spent the weekend in Philly. On George’s birthday, we went to The Franklin Institute and I bought a shirt like this one in the gift shop.
@Into the Sky with Diamonds
The only difference is that mine says The Franklin Institute under the picture. I wore it for the rest of the day in honor of George’s birthday. We always go away for a long weekend on Zag’s birthday (2/24), which means most years we are doing something fun on my favorite Beatle’s birthday as well.

Offline Happy Birthday to my favorite Beatle, George!
Today will be filled with George-y activities. Does watching George on the TV count as an activity? Anyway, I haven’t determined the running order yet, but Concert For George, Concert For Bangladesh and George Harrison : Living in the Material World are all ready for viewing on the big screen / surround sound combo. I thought about going to one of the two theaters in my area where they are screening CFG, but I’ll be much more comfy in my own living room surrounded by my favorite snacks and bevvies.
I think I will dub today George Harri-Sunday.
