I believe the reason Louise was cut off is because she made George angry when she fell on hard times and turned the house he visited in Benton, Illinois in the summer of ’63, into a Bed and Breakfast, called A Hard Day’s Night . He felt she exploited him. It wouldn’t have bothered me but I am not George. Early on, she had access to The Beatles and got that nixed by Brian Epstein for meddling too much. So, she’s pretty well ridden George’s coattails for a long time. She was married to a man from Great Britain that was an expert in coal mining. That’s how she ended up in Southern Illinois. I am not sure what happened to her marriage. I believe his last name was Caldwell.
I live near Benton, Illinois, and have met Louise on several occaisons. I have never asked her about this but I read somewhere that George got very angry about the BandB. There’s a book out about his stay here that summer called Before He Was Fab: George Harrison ‘s First American Visit. It’s pretty good if you’re interested in that type thing. They also erected a plaque in the park in Benton in 2013 commemorating that visit. I have this photo I took with my phone of her signing some pictures of George at the event.
