If ‘My Sweet Lord ‘ were the torture device, I certainly wouldn’t mind being tortured. ‘My Sweet Lord (2000)’, on the other hand…
I’m not a fan of the original so somehow George managed the rare achievement of always giving me hope that the 2000 remake will be better yet upon listening to it discover its far worse; a mess of a track with a horrible lead vocal.

You know… I can sort of understand why it would be used as torture. Please don’t kill me! I really like how the song starts, and I really hate how it ends. The solid acoustic guitar strumming and the electric guitar at the beginning is really great. But to me, it just goes downhill from there. The never-ending chanting of all kinds of gods really gets on my nerves, so I never listen to the song anymore. I know it’s not something you’re supposed to say on a Beatles forum, but I think My Sweet Lord is not even close to George’s best work, and I can actually see how hearing it over and over would drive someone mental.

I’m surprised nobody has gone there yet, so I’m going to. This is pure torture (I didn’t even open the video, just copied it)If you haven’t heard it then how do you know it’s bad?
Because unfortunately, I’ve heard it n the past. I can still hear it…. *shudders*

I dont think either ‘My Sweet Lord ‘ or ‘Got My Mind Set On You’ are George’s best work; neither would get anywhere close to my top 20 George solo songs. Like yourself @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^< I like the beginning of ‘MSL’, its around when the drums kick in I lose interest and from then on in I want it over with. ‘GMMSOY’ is cheesy 80’s crap and badly dated.
I also don’t think ‘Imagine ‘ is John’s, Queen’s is ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ is Simon & Garfunkel’s, Roy Orbison’s is ‘Oh, Pretty Woman ‘ and Abba’s is ‘Dancing Queen’. I could go on.

Me (squeals): GEORGIEEEEE!!!! (singing along) Hallelujah, Hare Krishna, Guru Deva…
Guard: (changes music)
Jokes aside, it sucks for George’s legacy that his best-known song was used as torture.

The idea of music torture is sad, especially when you use good music to do this (reminds me of that scene in A Clockwork Orange where Alex attempts suicide after hearing Beethoven). If you’re going to torture people with music, use a song like that stupid Baby song.

I think any song, played excessively loud and repeated over and over would probably become torture. I think My Sweet Lord is an odd choice, though. I would think something like “I’m Henry VIII, I Am” would be a hell of a lot more effective…

I think this would be a good torture song, fun the first few times around but then you’d confess after the 10th time of hearing it

The ‘Love Me Do‘ remix reminded me of this thread of hell and I was tempted not to unleash tit but the above video has made me relent.

That video gave me a good laugh, but now it’s stuck in my head. I can’t tell if they intended it to be a joke, or if it is just a horribly made serious song/video. Also at the 2:57 mark, why did they use a green screen image for the ice cream shop instead of going to an actual ice cream shop?
