I’ve read and said the same as The Inner Light regarding ‘All Things Must Pass ‘ being the 2001 remaster with the original cover but going back to articles by Examiner and Wogblog both ATMP and ‘Living In The Material World ‘ are newly remastered for these reissues.
All the albums are remastered again in 2014, ignoring the previous remasterings of “All Things Must Pass ” and “Living In The Material World “. (Wogblog – George Harrison Apple Years update)
I’d like to find the source for the 2000 remaster with original cover comments.

I’ve done five or six track comparisons of ATMP . Hopefully what I am about to say makes sense. I would say if you’re looking for greater sharpness, clarity and separation in the instruments, stick with your 2001 copy. While both the 2014 one and the 2001 one are a vast improvement over the original CD, the new one tones down some of the shrillness and tinny quality of the 2001 remaster and makes it more mid range and easier on the ears. In doing so, I think it makes it closer to the spirit of the original, although it’s a very difficult comparison to make. Personally, I think I will prefer the new remaster.

I don’t know whether to sell back my old CDs or not. Now that I have this new box, I have multiple versions of a lot of CDs… I have previous issues of Cloud Nine (not in the new box set of course), Extra Texture , Living in the Material World and Dark Horse , plus the two previous versions of ATMP (the one in the black box and the original). It would certainly free up some space on the shelf…but I don’t know whether I would enjoy listening to the differences in the sounds on the discs.
I might just keep the ATMP 30th anniversary edition and the 2007 remaster of LITMW. A lot of the others don’t really sound so hot in comparison to the newer versions.

Well – it costs too much for me to justify just now given how little of it is new (so few extras), though I will probably get the first two CDs at some stage as my current versions are *cough cough* donated.

Let me know your thoughts. I prefer the ATMP disc in this set, but there are a few tracks on Living in the Material World where I feel like the 2007 remaster brings out different sounds–not that it’s better necessarily, but definitely worth noticing.
On the mp3s of Electronic Sound that I already had, the right and left channels are reversed as compared to the CD. I’m not sure how that happened.

I’m impressed that Sound made enough of an impression that you can tell the channels are reversed

I might get this for my birthday from my spouse (since we have the same $$$, we usually suggest what we want to each other before hand)… It looks great. I just don’t know Geroge’s solo stuff as well as I would like to. This would be a good investment me thinks!

I’ll get it at some point but i’m long past the point of rushing out to buy anything when its first released, especially with reissues. I’ll no doubt pick it up in a sale.

Anybody knows if the DVD will be sold separately, like the DVD from the Dark Horse Years was?

I’m sure it will once they sell enough of the box set.
Could someone who own’s the set upload the ‘apple years’ promo feature which looks like the only new thing on the DVD. That would be great see we could see it. Thanks.
The further one travels, the less one knows
I bought this in a moment of weakness last week (I had a spare £10 Amazon voucher and the price dropped to £55). It arrived on Friday and is a very beautiful package. They’ve done a lovely job. I hope they reissue the Dark Horse Years one now.
I haven’t listened to much of the music yet but I’ve been playing Wonderwall Music quite a bit and I really like it. I borrowed and taped the album from my local library about 20 years ago and haven’t heard it much since then. I’ve been struck by how similar Party Seacombe sounds to Flying – it’s like they could be siblings. Apparently it’s not even Ringo on drums, but Roy Dyke from the Remo Four.
