‘Wake Up My Love’ is the opening song on George Harrison’s tenth solo album Gone Troppo. See more…
There’s one I liked a lot called ‘Life Itself’. But it’s not a rock and roll song; it’s a mystical kind of lyric. And I like that one you mentioned. ‘Wake Up My Love’. I got the idea for that from a Paul Robeson song.

Bloody great song this is. Off Gone Troppo as well! (Which as an album, I think, fails in the musicality department.)
Lalalalove it.

This song is one of the reasons Gone Troppo is my favorite George album.

@meanmistermustard thinks it’s the only flop on an otherwise brilliant record. I believe he’s said somewhere ‘Skip “Wake Up My Love” and you have a brilliant album’ or somesuch.
I don’t love it, but I don’t quite hate it, either. I do think it is terribly dated compared to the rest of the album, and much prefer ‘That’s The Way It Goes’, ‘Unknown Delight’, and ‘Greece’ (yes).

I don’t think it sounds dated. At least no more dated than everything else George has done.
