‘Got My Mind Set On You’ is the final song on George Harrison’s eleventh solo album Cloud Nine.
The single was a huge hit for Harrison, topping the singles charts in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, and the USA. In the UK it peaked at number two for four weeks, held off the top spot by T’Pau’s ‘China In Your Hand’. ‘Got My Mind Set On You’ also went top ten in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Sweden, and West Germany.
It was Harrison’s final US number one single, and the last by any of the former Beatles to top the Billboard Hot 100. It also hit the top the week prior to The Beatles’ induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and was Billboard’s third best-selling single of 1988. See more…
That came about because Jim Keltner just started playing that drum pattern, and the song seemed to fit right on there.

The title is ‘Got My Mind Set On You’.
Remember, this song’s just six words long!

I was just about to say you’re wrong according to the original label. But then I checked Wiki and it says the original was written as Got My Mind Set on You (by Rudy Clark who also wrote “If You Gotta Make a Fool of Somebody”) but then the first recorded version was called I’ve Got My Mind Set on You. So it’s confusing. Perhaps a mod can change the title.

I was wondering, which version of the music video do you prefer for this song? I definitely prefer Version II.

I prefer Version II as well. I love the bit with the little groundhog playing the pipe like a saxophone.

Uh… I prefer the one where he’s inside a machine at one of those ancient, like, arcade things. It’s super 80s, so it fits the song. The library one is just weird, in my opinion.

That’s really why I like it best: it’s weird, just like a multitude of George’s other videos!
