It’s a fab background album, when I’m studying/cleaning/walking somewhere it’s a really nice one to listen to. Especially when you’re walking by the sea on a nice day, a lot of George music just has this perfect “atmosphere quality” to it that I can’t really describe whereas John’s, Paul’s or Ringo’s doesn’t.
I do concur!
And my favourite song off this album?
Probably in my top 3 of George songs:
Your Love Is Forever
That intro, man!
it’s beautiful. Easily the best song on the album, if ye ask me (Blow Away is also good, more upbeat than gorgeous though).

Such a lovely and beautiful album; one of my favourites for sure. My favourite tracks would have to be Soft Touch, Your Love Is Forever and Here Comes the Moon, I think.

This album just grows and grows on me. Been listening to it a lot. The only song I don’t like is ‘faster’ which comes off a bit overcooked.I don’t like “somewhere in England” and “gone troppo” anywhere near as much as this one.
Gone Troppo is a daft and sunshiny album too, but I have to say I probably prefer this one. I’ve never been able to get into Somewhere In England .
This one’s easily my favourite of all his albums, or at least on par with Brainwashed.

Can’t stand ‘Faster’, sounds far too contrived like George was trying to write a hit song that would get him back in the limelight.

I liked it for a bit, but I don’t anymore. Unfortunately, Little Girl absolutely loves it.

‘Love Comes To Everyone’ is a great sleeper of a George track.
George could easily write commercially poppy tracks as good as anyone, ‘LCTE’ is one of those.

Your Love Is Forever has a beautiful guitar part too, really uses that open D tuning to advantage. Semi-related note, eight out of the eleven EDIT: it’s actually seven out of ten, I can’t count songs on the album are in the key of D major. A lot of George’s songs were, I think he was quite fond of that key, but none so much in one place as on this album.
Haven’t listened to the LP in ages because it has such a strong summer/tropical island feel and it’s currently wintery where I am. Might have to pull it out for a bit of atmospheric escapism.

@Beatlebug I intended to respond praising the guitarwork on Your Love Is Forever. The strumming during the intro that matches the “unlike summer came and went” section is sublime. Right now its #1 on my list for wedding songs.

It’s funny you said that, Beatlebug, because I was listening to Here Comes The Moon yesterday and during the outro I was looking out at the shining snow (and some colourful Christmas lights) from a window in complete darkness and just got a very warm, cozy feeling. Even though it’s winter it actually complemented the atmosphere very well, lol.

I may or may not be completely obsessed with this album… every track is golden and I can’t stop listening to it. I’ve already listened to it twice today and I think I’m going to listen to it for a third time as soon as Bangla Desh ends. I particularly love Love Comes To Everyone, Here Comes The Moon, Blow Away, Faster, Dark Sweet Lady, and Soft Touch (and yes I realize I more or less just listed half the album )

I’m glad we all seem to appreciate Here Comes The Moon. When I saw that George had named a song that I admit I cringed a bit, but it’s so beautiful I can’t help but love it.

BeatlebugI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I thought the same but George did it very well even acknowledging it’s older brother with the wonderful underplayed line “Looks like a little brother to the sun”. I think it was that line that swung it for me, self-referential but not in your face.

I always thought it was kind of cool that they had such similar names, but I agree that the song is A M A Z I N G though it is very different.
@meanmistermustard I agree, that line is fantastic. Definitely the best in the song.
I think this is (out of the ones I’ve heard) probably my second favorite George album now. I listened to it four times yesterday and I’m going to listen to it even more today because it is fabulous.
