It turns out that we both had the same paperback book in our flight bags, Paramahansa Yogananda’s “Autobiography of a Yogi.” We had each read it several times. He autographed my copy of the book; I underlined the paragraphs I liked best in his. The book was to be our Michelin Guide, here in the land of virtual saints and sidewalk transcendence.(big snip)
A student just came up to the reference desk and wanted a copy of this Autobiography. He mentioned that George Harrison really liked it. I ordered a copy for my library.
Then we spent a few minutes talking about the Beatles Bible. That’s when I looked up the book on the site and showed him the threads where the book had been discussed. He said he would check the site out and tell his Beatlemaniac friend in San Francisco about the site.

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

When I was at college in 1998 I heard about the floods that were devastating Bangladesh. I saw the emergency aid appeal on TV (The first one of those I’d seen) and wanted to raise some money to help. I was studying Music Technology and working closely with the other students on the performing arts course so I thought the best way to do it was a concert (I know, very suitably ‘George’ doing a concert for Bangladesh!). I organised it with my music friends helping out and I thought I’d just write to George and see if he could offer anything small perhaps for a raffle or something.
I didn’t hear anything for a while but then a few months later I got a lovely letter from his offices at Friar Park. He sent me an Ohm pin padge and a lovely meditation print along with a very nice letter.
So, big thank you to George and his office for those and I’m pleased to say the concert went very well 🙂

I find the one about his first time quite amusing. The one where after he’d had sex with a German prostitute the lads all came out of the shadows and clapped?
Also like the one about when he and John first got high; they thought they were burning to death in the lift because they mistook a small red light for a massive fire.

I love how casually that’s put: “first got high” instead of “were fed LSD by their wicked dentist who they thought was trying to organize an orgy.”
