When I become President of the world- every Friday night in every single country an episode of Python’s Flying Circus will be shown and there will be a pop quiz on Saturday. If you get 100% in you win €10, $10, £10 or whatever in your country’s currency.
But that would mean that people living in one country would get a higher pay out than in other countries due to conversion rates!

Well that’s their problem.
To improve their currency rates they should work on getting as low an inflation rate as possible without going into the horribleness that is deflation. To do this they could increase their balance of trade but exporting more products and importing less. They could do this by importing substitution i.e. an indigenous American business (for example) could see a product that has been invented in Japan (for example) and copy it (without directly illegally infringing on it). Therefore the American government would benefit from taxes such as VAT that would be on the now American-manufactured product. This will help the government in paying for public services and also for unemployment benefit. Continuous import substitution will also lead to more employment as supply will need to fulfill demand. Therefore more American residents would be employed to produce this items thus lowering the levels of unemployment and allowing the US government to spend more on necessities such as education, health care etc.
Well that’s my business study done for the day 😛
Update: I have just realised Americanos don’t use VAT (‘cept in 1 state) so let’s replace VAT with ‘Sales Tax’.

Ah! Kerr’s Potatoes (the Scottish potato)! I believe backstage catering used those in the potato salad!

I can understand that attitude. I enjoyed the original music by the Shankars a lot but didn’t care near as much about Jeff Lynne doing a bunch of George covers. I don’t believe the originals could be topped. Will probably check out the rest of the concert in due course, though, just to be thorough, since I already invested an hour of my time into it.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I completely understand this notion, but these aren’t just merely “artists” but George’s Family & Friends.

why must i see it?
Because you won’t find a more rousing rendition of ‘Horse To The Water’ anywhere. Few Concert Films succeed in making its viewers feel as though they are actually there and this one passes the grade in Flying Colours. As Eric Clapton states from the outset, this experience with George’s Friends & Family invokes “Warm Feelings” and the emotional response to the show makes the excellent music throughout seem almost secondary. A most suitable Celebration to the Life of George Harrison . Read back throughout the thread and you’ll see that more than one poster has experienced tears here, it takes a Big Man to Cry meanmistermustard…:-)

One that is very far away from me.
Blasphemy! *pelts with Rooster potatoes*
Speaking of which, I remember when I was 10 in primary school we had an entire 1 hour lecture about varieties of potato, how to grow a potato what potato is the best to mash, chip etc.
I mean we grew our own potatoes for feck sake (and they were rubbish small yokes as well, bout the width of your thumb). Talk about giving into stereotypes…
Fiddly, diddly, dee
Here’s a joke:
How many potatoes does it take to kill an Irish man?
None…
*crickets*
Back on topic: A non-interesting fact, the caterers for the CFG were Bombay Brasserie, Eat Your Heart Out and Mobile Mouthful.

As said above i dont fall for emotional hooplah. If some folk find it deeply emotional then thats cool but its not me. I’ll find other things deeply emotional, tribute concerts however don’t feature.

Paul, Ringo & Eric all played on The Beatles’ original ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps ‘ but I guess you really just “Dont care”, I won’t bother then but you really are missing out on a gem of a show.

The Raga Introduction to the show is absolutely brilliant and a cut above the Indian Music that begins the ‘Concert for Bangladesh’ performances. Ravi & his Daughter set the mood early and pushed all of the performers to their best throughout. There’s a rare intimacy to the show, one gets to experience the same sense of wonderment that George probably felt whenever he visited India as we also now know what it’s like to get invited to one of the many Friar Park jams with George’s many Friends. Many thanks again to Dhani & Olivia for sharing so much with us on this Wonderful Night….:-)

There are thousands of compilations where 3 members of a band get together and re-record a song, i dont get emotional about those either. Should I?
Some folk do and thats great. I dont and i can live with it.

Haha, we wouldn’t be specifically referencing ‘Free As A Bird ‘ now would we?
C’mon, Grab a Bevvy and Kick Back and Enjoy The Show! Don’t worry, Monty Python ain’t covering any of George’s songs.

The best thing I got out of Concert For George was the discovery that George had a son whose name is Dhani.
