I found a song that isn’t mentioned (as far as I can find) anywhere on the site.  It’s one John wrote in Rishikesh and isn’t a serious song, nowhere near good enough to record and release.  It’s called ‘The Happy Rishikesh song, there are several copies on youtube but none has more than a few thousand views.  It certainly sounds like the real John.  I’m wanting to post the youtube somewhere.  There are some other one-off tunes, Commonwealth (unfinished) is one.  Is it just that Joe had to draw the line somewhere? They were so prolific at Rishikesh, I’m sure there are more of these out there. Thanks!

Yes. I can’t write about every demo, unreleased or half-finished song they made, so I’ve mostly stuck to songs that are freely available on official releases. There are exceptions such as Carnival Of Light and Child Of Nature , mainly because they deserve to be included.

It’s a trade-off between comprehensiveness and manageability. If I ever get to work on this site full time I’ll write about absolutely everything I can get my hands on, but even then there’d be priorities (most likely released solo songs and albums).

Is there a thread about Beatles songs that have been ruined for you because of some association (with a movie, a TV show, an off-key friend, a bad teacher, an ex, etc.)? If not, I’ll make one.

I will admit though, I will avoid that thread like the plague. Hopefully mmm or Zig will keep order in there if order needs to be kept.

I posted Ringo’s mini-film The Cooler somewhere, maybe one of the video threads, and can’t find it. mmm posted an incomplete version in its own thread (found that), I later posted the complete version, I’m looking for my post of it.

Anybody able to help?

Thank you, yes! Seems I did find it earlier! I didn’t look at the post as I thought I was just commenting on a picture. Didn’t think I’d posted the video in a picture thread!

That’ll teach me to check search results better!

Thanks, @Ahhh Girl.

Nope, that’s the right one @meanmistermustard. When I found yours earlier I didn’t look at it because you’d said it was incomplete. All that’s missing is the title at the beginning and the credit roll at the end. The body of the film is complete. YouTube video 9.58, imbd gives full-length as 11min. It’s more complete than you thought, and I just thought the version you’d posted was less complete than my post of it because you said so! There are mere bookending seconds missing.

Do we have a thread where people who are becoming outrageous exhibitionists can post a real-life picture of themselves if they so desire?

I thought it might be interesting to discuss Beatles “firsts” or innovations – like I think the first officially release use of reversed recording is I’m Only Sleeping .  Or that they were the first and only to have all the top 5 of billboard’s hot 100…or even, I their recordings were the first to have been played backwards (by the public) to discover “hidden messages.”  The Beatles and George Martin broke new ground in a lot of places, and a list of them would be cool.  I searched a bunch of words, couldn’t find an existing topic – but I’ve learned something in my year here – which is, ask here before I start a new topic!

Thanks for any help, Matt

I thought we had a thread like that, but a few initial searches only turned up threads with one-off mentions of first by them. Let @meanmistermustard have a crack at searching for a thread like that. If he (or anyone else) doesn’t find one, then you can start one.

Do we have a thread dedicated to most overplayed songs? I feel like we do but can’t find it.

If we don’t already have one, do you think we should have a thread on celebrity Beatlemaniacs? I keep coming across stories and thinking there should be a thread.

This is the thread I thought of: Celebrities’ Favorite Beatles

Would your idea work there, @parlance?
