The title isn’t brilliant for indicating what it started as. Some people go for brief titles and expand on their idea in the first post, while others write titles that mean you don’t really need to read the first post. I see no problem with it as it started. After all, we also have threads in the same place dealing with their relationships with Elvis, Bob Dylan, and The Rolling Stones.
Dylan also has a thread in ‘All Together Now ‘ about him, rather than his relationship with them. Maybe the solution is just for someone to start a general thread in ‘ATN ‘, and let the thread as is revert to a discussion about the influences The Beatles had on The Monkees.

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Not this thread title; we were talking about the space between us all Monkees thread, which was in Yesterday … and Today instead of All Together Now , because it was originally started to discuss the Beatles’ influence on the Monkees.

Ron Nasty and I just had a good email exchange. If no mods are online and someone makes a thread that already has an existing thread on the topic, to get people to stop posting in the new thread, the only way may be to ask people in that thread to post in the original thread.Those of you who are regulars, maybe if you would copy/”quote” the post that starts a new thread into the existing thread and respond to the person in the existing thread, that would help while mods aren’t around. That would make the pre-existing thread be in the unread posts list so maybe it would get people going in the proper direction until a mod can come in and evaluate the situation and lock/redirect as needed.
Thoughts?
We are ending the part of this post that says to post directly in the newly created thread. We want people to PM us or make a post in the Mother Superior Jumped the Gun thread to let us know about threads that may be duplicates or that may need to be moved to another part of the forum. You can @ the creator of the new thread if you like so they can stay informed of what is being discussed. When a mod comes on, we will evaluate the situation and decide if a move or a lock and redirect (or any other action) needs to be done.
People are still welcome to make a post in a pre-existing thread on a topic (in the case of a duplicate thread on a topic) to try to get people to post in the pre-existing thread. For example, if ASJ were to make a new foreign language thread, SG could go to the pre-existing foreign language thread and make a post that says “Hey, @AppleScruffJunior, I see you made a new foreign language thread. I just wanted you to know we have this thread already on the topic. @Joe, @meanmistermustard, @Zig, or @Ahhh Girl may decide to merge your thread into this one or do a lock and redirect. Here are my thoughts on what you said in your post in the new thread…”

Offline I’ve noticed that Ringo’s Section is a bit out of whack. I think I caught most of his misplaced albums, but I think there might be more. Also I haven’t even checked his individual songs. I’m sorry, I get a bit OCD when it comes to these things. It would just help me sleep a bit better at night if you mods would do a sweep to make sure all the Ringo albums/songs are in their respective sections.
