If you are looking for a thread try the search option, the extended search gives you additional options to help narrow down the field.  Another option is do a google search using this code -> site:beatlesbible.com/forum <- and then the word or words you are looking for. Upon clicking on a search result the forum search takes you to the beginning of the thread whereas google search takes you to the post.

There is additional stuff to it all but thats what i know, after that it gets too intricate for me.

I just stole it all off Ahh Girl, Faceo, Parlance and others here. They are the ones who discover all this, i just nab it and then present it as if im knowledgeable.

Use the @ sign and then begin typing the username of the person you want to contact (it can be case sensitive so be mindful of capital letters), it will bring it a list of the available posters so for yourself its @Pet. . .  which brings @PeterWeatherby.

If you use the Rich Text editor for posting on the forum, the auto-fill works for doing @ notifications. The auto-fill doesn’t work if you are using the HTML editor.

I am trying to figure out why I don’t get some notifications. The person’s post looks right with the @ and my username in blue, etc., but I don’t get the notification at the top of my page.

Right now, I have notifications from Kite, Joe, Ron Nasty, ISWD, parlance, Zig, ScrambledEggs, meanmistermustard, and Bungalow Bob. Are all of you using the Rich Text editor?

I am using the HTML editor. I am testing all the varieties of putting in my username to see what comes out in the wash: @Ahhh Girl @ahhh girl @Ahhh Girl @ahhh-girl @Ahhh-Girl And, I’m thinking that “preview” doesn’t always show you what you are going to get. I learned the dash thing because I adore the HTML editor because it works better for most things I need to do, but the @ thing doesn’t auto-fill. So to notify a more-than-one-word-username-person I have to use dashes. For example to @ Kite I have to type mr(dash)kite(dash)3 @Mr. Kite

EDIT: well, no, only @Ahhh Girl worked. I still don’t know why I don’t get some notifications.

I know. I know. You can thank @trcanberra for my name change. It is a long story…and a darn fun/funny one. I treasure it. That one little clue in that post still gets to me.

It is better if most folks don’t know. It is a closely guarded secret.

Anyone who has changed usernames since joining the forum has something similar going on. If you want to @ Ron Nasty, type mja6758 after the @.
