@Joe has to manually approve every post that goes public on the main site pages. I know he is a very patient man; he gives people enough rope to hang themselves. So, let’s see if he wants to make a comment on the matter.

The rules for behaviour on the Fab Forum are there because the forum is a live conversation. Once a new member’s first post has been approved by one of our great forum mods or Joe, which is in place to avoid spam and/or bots getting through, members are free to post without restriction so long as they keep within the stated rules of the forum.
If not, as happened not so long ago with a member who kept making posts that were considered problematic, restrictions can be put in place. In that instance, the Forumpudlian had to go through a period where each of their posts needed approval before it appeared on the forum; an exercise that worked since that person now makes useful contributions to the forum and is no longer the disruptive presence they once were.
In extreme cases, and I can only recall this happening with one person, people can be blocked from the forum.
The forum mods, as suggested above, have nothing to do with the main site, which is Joe’s exclusive domain.
Anybody, member of the forum or not, can post in the comments sections on articles. These posts needs clearance before they appear and that is done by Joe alone. Joe likes as wide a variety of opinions to appear as possible and, as many conversations on the forum show, prefers a light touch. While Joe is unlikely to agree with every contribution made to the comments sections, and probably often disagrees, he seems not to feel this contributor’s comments, in the case of those published (and, who knows, there may be others he chose to reject), were so problematic that they shouldn’t appear.
My main point would be that the rules for the live conversation on the Fab Forum do not apply to main site, where every post is read by Joe before it appears.

……………Abuse is when people are a PITA and keep hammering away at the same point, cause petty arguments and don’t listen when people try and steer them away from being annoying.
I’m a new member and I’m thoroughly enjoying the site. Thanks, Joe. I’m one of those people who will actually read the forum rules and try to abide by them.
In reading the comments below the songs, I discovered that there appears to be one member violating the abuse rules – Constantly trying to make every thread a quarrel about why John is great, Paul is bad, and making the same claims about how John was the only good songwriter and that “it was very embarrassing to Paul”. He continually makes assertions that are ludicrous without ever offering any sort of facts or proof to back them up. I understand that people will sometimes have disagreements and that’s to be expected. However, the guy who hides behind the screen name ” Johan Cavalli ” seems to be a thorn in everybody’s side. Is there are reason this troll hasn’t been banned?
Hi Beatlebass. Welcome to the site and forum!
Others have helpfully summarised the general rules around comments and forum posts. To answer your specific query, I’m aware that Johan winds a lot of people up. He hasn’t done anything to warrant a ban, and being annoying isn’t really enough reason. Yes, he’s single-minded and his posts sometimes stray into irrelevance, and I do sometimes revisit his comment threads and remove some of the off-topic bits. I also don’t publish some of his messages when they don’t have any relevance to the page in question, but some slip through the filter (me).
Some people will always be annoying, but the best thing is just to ignore them. If you see a comment that really isn’t relevant to the page, add a reply to it (you can include –not for publication– if you wish) explaining why you think it should be removed and I’ll take a look. I approve each comment manually, but sometimes don’t see the bigger picture of how a conversation is unfolding.
But yeah, being annoying isn’t a bannable offence. Sorry.

To be fair, it’s more complicated than that. That person was going through a rough patch in his life and once he got the help he needed, he stopped making problematic posts.
Sorry for responding a bit late, i just wanted to clear things up.

I was just skimming the surface of that particular situation, @Dark Overlord, to illustrate that there can be sanctions, and that a ban is rarely what Joe would reach for first. I didn’t think it important to identify who it happened with, just that things can happen when needed.

I don’t think that’ll be necessary, but if anyone has an issue with a post or user, we prefer to be alerted by PM. Thank you

Thanks for raising this. Actually, using the Report button is far better for me than sending a PM.
Has this formally changed and we should now do PMs again? I might of missed when this turnover happened but I would like to be all ruled up for sure.

The report button works best if you want to report something directly to @Joe as it sends him a flagged alert.
Other mods do not see this however, so if it’s something you want the mods to be aware of, then a PM to the mods as a whole is the best route.
If it’s something only Joe can address, report; if it’s something any mod can address, PM.

listen to RN, he knows all!
For PMing mods, if it’s an easy thing you can simply PM one of us (like fixing a thread title typo) based on who’s online/which mod is in a timezone that’s awake.
That is of course mostly why I’m a mod – I’m awake when everyone else is asleep due to timezones!

Ah, yes, I was speaking purely in the context of the conversation which regarded general mod oversight of an oft-contentious discussion, not specifically petitioning Joe to address something specific*.
Sorry for any confusion that may have caused – sometimes I forget that, because I’m a mod, I represent the whole Beatles Bible administration and therefore my word is law.
Or, in other words, listen to Ron, he knows all.
*very specific.

anyone know how to delete your account
Only Joe can delete accounts, you would need to PM him and ask. Joe has said he would rather not delete accounts as doing so can disrupt conversations, instead preferring folk to simply not post.

Nothing you have done is a bannable offence, @KaosTictaw. You have only been asked things like not disrupting ranking threads by adding extras; to find out if a suitable thread exists before creating new threads; and to not double, triple post.
Believe me, Forumpudlians have done much worse and not been banned. All that’s being asked is that you accept and follow the guidance being offered to use this forum properly.

joe, is contributing unnecessary information a bannable offence?
No one has mentioned anyone being banned, mods have simply asked that you do the same as what everyone else on here follows. If you don’t we reserve the right to move or delete posts, especially if they are duplicate threads that have no need on the forum as one already exists. Not every post needs a new thread and we have asked that you use the thread help search thread (or whatever it’s called) beforehand. Others have been asked to do the same exact thing and they have.

Zig should be dropped from the op.
Also, should still change “using the report button” to “PM all the mods” since that is faster.
