Thanks Ron, I find yours a balanced conclusion. I just remember thinking after reading multiple books about Apple, that if it wasn’t The Beatles they all would have been bankrupt. Instead, since they could keep selling/reselling the same material, the money just kept regenerating itself and it was almost impossible (as a business) to fail.
The Beatles Apple Boutique on the corner of Baker Street and Paddington Street. I wonder what’s there now?

Eh, didn’t John give him MBE back?
(I was going to fix the typo, but then I decided it sounded a bit Lennonesque)

That’s the only building on that corner that looks remotely similar. It has definitely undergone some changes.

John returned his physical insignia, @meaigs, but only the Crown can actually withdraw/revoke the award. So, he remained an MBE, he just didn’t have the insignia in his possession. It was let known a few years ago that John’s insignia had been located, and that his next of kin could request its return should they want to.

Marsh & Parsons is still in that building. It’s the right building with the address of 94 Baker Street. I wonder if they know their building was once the Apple Boutique. Dare me to email them?

Makes me wonder if John would have accepted knighthood if he lived longer.

[… I’m fond of all these people, but as a group aren’t they considered some of the most incompetent businessmen of all time?
The longest Cocktail Party indeed! I’m fond of Neil Aspinall, Peter Brown and Derek Taylor too @sigh butterfly, I mean, they were so close and trusted by the Beatles, part of their lives. Looking at some of the decisions Brian Epstein made too, seem crazy. I think Apple was a good idea, but as @Ron Nasty said no one had overall charge, I think Neil would have grown in to the job along with Peter Brown. None of them were ruthless businessmen, too nice.

Here are the first two in better quality:Yeah, I’d say Wigmore Street, May/June 1968. Would have been taken for an Observer article, possibly around the launch of Apple, which was largely fronted by John and Paul (it was them who took the trip to the US to announce it there).[..]
With that better quality photo @RonNasty the window seems more a modernish, larger window, more in keeping with Wigmore street perhaps. Here is a photo with Neil, Paul and John, link re Wigmore St below.

WOW!! Thanks AG…In a million years I would not recognize that building if I was standing right in front of it.
A little looking around using Google maps and street view has Marsh & Parsons Marylebone & Mayfair Estate Agents in that building as of November 2020.
I’m glad The Fool’s psychedelic painting didn’t last long, just long enough to cause a stir in the neighbourhood. It’s such a pretty building

While they may not have had the usual trail of tourists gawping outside for a couple of years, I doubt they’ve forgotten. Estate agents are always about a properties unique selling points.

I love this photo from the Mad Day Out (1968)
There’s something so gentle and sweet about it, and for me it captures something of the four personalities.
I was reading about The Kinks this morning, and I came across this photo (taken in 1965):
The contrast is so stark. The Kinks are threatening, even if they’re only joking, whereas the Beatles are anything but.

Cool find @meaigs. It reminds me of the time I was wandering around the canals in Amsterdam with my teenage daughter looking for the bench from the movie The Fault In Our Stars (the scene when Gus tells Hazel his cancer has returned). We finally found it and (lol) there was a man laying on it who was sound asleep. We waited for a while until another family with a teenager showed up. That Dad wasn’t so patient and wiggled the man’s foot to move him along. Guess I’m the Paul of this story
