@parlance is close. She has forgotten that some pictures from the day feature in the Help ! album artwork (George in the Cowboy hat), which was released before their ’65 US tour. The photo dates from 19 September 1964, when they had a day off at Reed Pigman’s ranch in Alton, Missouri, who was also their pilot. Another shot of George from this day (full-length) was used on R Soul.

@Starr Shine?A newspaper article with info on the pictures. The photo sessions is reported as being held in Scotland in December 1964 and taken by Bob Whitaker.
The “December 1964” timestamp also suggests that this photo shoot could be in preparations for their Annual Christmas Show http://mentalfloss.com/article…..-1963-64 where The Beatles were known to subject themselves to Public Humiliation, the article here mentions that “Ringo wore a lion’s costume” which appears consistent with the above photos…:-)
