Personally, I don’t understand all the superstition on here regarding John’s death. Death is a natural thing.
He hardly died of natural causes.

True, but that doesn’t mean we should pretend it never happened. It’s natural to die of a bullet when shot. His killer exists.

Using initials or not using his killer’s name isn’t superstition or “pretending” it didn’t happen. It’s one way to honor John’s memory. You may have a different way of honoring him, but at least respect the choice of those who do so another way.

I understand that people deal with things in different ways. I just think that if there is going to be some rule about what we can and can’t post regarding John’s death, that rule should be explictly stated somewhere in the forum rules.
Personally, I think John would probably choose to recognize Chapman as a human being.

It’s not a rule. Again, it’s a choice.

I see. It appeared to me as if there were some kind of “unspoken consensus” regarding this.

I tend to see it that Chapman wanted to be famous and got that by killing John. I don’t want to feed into giving him that fame (it might not be much but its something) so have decided not to use his name as much as possible. Why should I give him what he wanted? Plus i know that some folk don’t like it so its out of respect for them as well.
So its not about denying it ever happened, and i know his name is out there and forever will be, but its my choice.
And can we get back on topic of “Paul McCartney : solo years”, please?

There’s times like this when I’m completely in awe of that man. I know so many people his age, or younger even, who just sit in a chair all day complaining about the weather, and there he is skiing and keeping himself fit. Good on you, Paul.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.
