hello all, i’m trying to find out the location of a black and white photograph of john lennon. he’s standing above i believe stu sutcliffe, who is lying on a speaker. they are bother wearing leather jackets and pants. lennon’s eyes are closed and he may have a cig in his mouth. it looks to be inside a brick structure, like the cavern or somewhere in hamburg. does anyone know where this photo was taken?

Offline I’ve been looking for a picture like that online today but haven’t found one that matches that description. Have you seen it online before? Or in a book? I wish I had a ready answer for you. Hopefully we will get to the answer one of these days.

You know, I tried earlier to look for it earlier, but I couldn’t find it. Frankly, your description is a little vague. Judging by the fact that you say they were all dressed in leather and (you think) that Stuart Sutcliffe was in the band, I’d guess that the picture is probably from 1961. I looked through the archives of Beatle Source, but I couldn’t find it. It’s a little difficult when I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for.
Here’s the archive I was looking through if you’d like to see if you can find it yourself.

Reading that description, this image comes to mind:
But that’s Paul, not Stu, playing dead. It fits the description, though. Is this the one you mean, @Chas Tringham? If it is, this is definitely the Cavern.

Offline thanks all. this was the picture – fuzzy memory. pete best not stuart. i’d forgotten too george was there. so this is the cavern is it? circa. 1962 or 63? and definitely not the kaiserkeller?
