It is fake. Paul and John last met in 1974 in LA and Paul has his 1980’s look there.

Definitely fake.
However, as @meanmistermustard well knows, John and Paul’s last meeting was not in LA in 1974, but at the Dakota on the evening of 24 April 1976, when they watched Saturday Night Live offer a staggering $3,000 for a Beatles reunion, and they joked about going down to the TV studio and claiming the money as it wasn’t that far away, but decided they couldn’t be arsed.

I meant photo’d together, at least released photo. No doubt there is a photo somewhere of that time in 1976. Ho-hum.

It is.
winstonpaul writes “Mccartney and Lennon, 1980 New York city. (If only)” so it’s clearly presented as a mock-up on there, tho that may be lost when found elsewhere. So the actual picture is no worse than all the fan mash-ups where John plays the triangle on ‘Bluebird’, just that the context may have been removed when seen elsewhere.
