I hope I am putting this in the right spot, and following all the rules and such.  I have not used a message board in 12 years, so please be kind. :)

I run in to a lot of fake pictures of John and Paul online.  They are always quite cozy in the pictures, because somebody has photo-shopped them to be closer together.  Later I will see the original and realize that the other one was a fake.  I get where it stems from, there are a lot of fans out there that believe in the McLennon myth of them being lovers.  In my opinion, they probably weren’t, but the only one that knows the real truth is Paul.  People are free to believe whatever they want, but why try to alter a history of photos to suit your fantasies?  At least make it totally clear that the picture is a fake.

I am not sure how to post pictures from my files, so I need to use links.  Sorry.  Here is an example of a fake:

http://static.tumblr.com/kbxlg…..qc1ap3.jpg

And then the original:

https://www.tumblr.com/alright…..8967293243

This one is actually of Paul and Jane Asher but somebody replaced her with John:

Just curious if this bothers anyone else.  🙂

Actually funny.

The Metropolitan Museum in New York currently has an exhibit on this (that I coincidentally went to see yesterday): touched up pictures in the days before Photoshop (“Faking It”).

Photographers did this all the time either for esthetics, convenience or to make a political point.

This is honestly the first time I’ve heard of any such “McLennon myth of them being lovers” and I’ve been a fan since the ’70s!

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Really? You’re lucky, there’s loads of stuff; fanfics, drawings, bizaare reinterpretations of songs. Personally I think its dead weird- they were actually real people, not fictional characters- you can’t make stuff up about real people. Especially real people who were straight, who had wives and girlfriends and for whom there is absolutely no evidence that they were lovers.

Is that what this thread is all about?!!

Never heard of anything going on between Paul and John and personally cant believe anyone would buy into such garbage and fail to see where that would come from – unless 2 young men cant be close for years without getting it on/”experimenting”. Bad enough the idea that John and Brian were secret lovers. What next, the four spent many nights together sharing the same bed and doing more than sleeping? Lets take it a step further and have it that Pete wouldnt join in and thats why he was sacked.

This might just be up there with the whole Paul being dead guff.

The whole “Paul is dead” is even more annoying. Those people have way too much time on their hands.

I haven’t finished Philip Norman’s biography, but I think there is supposed to be something toward the end about how Paul was John’s “Princess.”

The John Lennon one? I read that one, and I don’t remember reading anything like that. If I did I would have probably been offended and would remember that.

Really?  I wonder where I read that then.  It was in some article on the interwebs.

Oh, nevermind, I guess you’re right. I guess people at Apple would sometimes call Paul John’s princess because John wanted to get it in with him. I don’t actually believe that, but, I guess I can understand why John felt that way if it’s true.

Take into consideration that if it did come from Norman’s John bio (which I’ve read but I confess that I can’t remember if this quote is in there or not) that he has a MASSIVE bias against Paul, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. After reading Shout and Lennon:A Life (both by Norman), one would conclude that John was 100% the genius behind the Beatles, Paul was an insecure yet egomaniacal manipulator who manipulated everything in his favor at poor John’s expense, and that George and Ringo were simpletons and mediocre boobs who were lucky to be along for the ride. And this guy is now working on a bio of Paul for release in 2015…*shudder*

”mediocre boobs”

That made me laugh.

It kind of annoys me how George and Ringo are often made out to be ”mediocre boobs” with no thoughts too.

As for the rest, like McLennon and Paul is dead and such, I find it highly amusing.

Hoping to god i don’t accidentally order a ‘McLennon’ at McDonalds and the drive thru girl gives me the mediocre fanfic she wrote last summer.

Also, does anyone know the real/fake status on THIS thing?a-hard-days-night-john-7

There’s a b&w version too.

I’m just mad that I can’t find the pictures that were used for this edit. a-hard-days-night-paul-3

I remember reading that he corresponded with Paul after that book, and corrected some of the innacuracies for the John Lennon bio.  Honestly, Paul comes out looking much better than John in John Lennon : The Life (so far…I’m only on page 600 or so).

Oh the McLennon these eyes have seen.  Way to dirty for this message board.

There are some talented writers and artists out there.

And I agree, there are some AMAZING writers/artists out there in the world of McLennon/Starrison/McHarrison etc.. etc.

Some of the fanfics I have read would make great tv series/movies but they would have to be awfully censored  (I would fully support “The Red Hall” becoming a tv series, it’s just bloody amazing,  (no pun intended a-hard-days-night-george-10 ) In conclusion: Beatles fans are awesome (but I think we all know that) And for any Beatles fanfic readers: Any recommendations?  I’m reading a boring George one at the moment and all the other amazing fanfics I was reading aren’t being updated paul-mccartney  I am having “Red Hall” withdrawal symptoms a-hard-days-night-paul-11

Very true, but if you wanna see why Paul spent 20 years calling Norman’s Beatles’ bio “S**t!” instead of “Shout!” read that book next. The fact that he’s now working on a Paul bio for 2015 scares me, because even as recently as 2005/6, he wrote some pretty nasty columns about Paul in some UK newspapers…

Yes, Fiona’s stuff rocks!  I love the style, that’s why I used her pictures for my tattoo design.  It was really hard to find pictures that weren’t perverted to show my artist, lol.

Don’t even get me started on the Red Hall!  I became way too emotionally invested in that story.  It’s written so well, the characters kind of stop being “Beatle” John and Paul and new people.  It could totally be a series, if people could get over, or past, who it’s supposed to be about.  It’s just a fantasy, nothing more really.  Fantastically written, you can tell she knows the personality’s well.  I’m assuming you’ve seen the picture that Fiona did for that story?  a-hard-days-night-paul-7
