Don’t know if Sixties British Pop Artist Pauline Boty was the first artist to paint the Beatles in her work, possibly she is. Her 1964 collage It’s a Man’s World 1 shows
John and Ringo, also present in the painting is a Matador called El Beatle (apparently because he was so popular with the crowd).

Pauline Boty was an extraordinary girl of the sixties. You can see her in Ken Russell’s 1962 art documentary Pop Goes The Easel on the BBC I Player with her peers Peter Blake, Peter Philips and Derek Boshier. She is brilliant in it and if you are into modern art/post modern art, it’s worth a look. She also had another connection with the Beatles via the BBC radio programme Public Ear which she contributed to and interviewed them. I can remember reading an article where George Harrison refers to her as Pauline Botty
She died at 28 in 1966 due to a very aggressive type of cancer, what a loss. Have tried to track down that particular radio interview with no luck.
