One of John’s drawings, from one of his books if I’m not wrong (should somebody know which one, please let us know).

@Oudis If I’m remembering correctly (my copy is in a box somewhere!), it’s an illustration of Shamrock Womlbs accompanying the story The Singularge Experience of Miss Anne Duffield in A Spaniard in the Works.

From the Liverpool Echo:

An artwork by John Lennon depicting himself as Christ is going up for auction.

‘The Shroud of Tourin’ was created in the autumn of 1966 after Lennon commented that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus.

The piece is estimated to be sold for £75,000 at auction house CooperOwen.

Lennon in a lungi, Marx meditating like a saint: Graffiti in Kochi asks ‘Guess Who’

Lennon-in-a-lungi.JPGImage Enlarger

A snippet from the article:

The port city of Kochi in Kerala is beguiling audiences online. Or more specifically a series of satirical graffiti that has cropped up on Kochi’s walls.

Bearing the signature “GuessWho”, the graffiti work has burst upon Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds. Its style seems influenced by the famous anonymous British street artist called Banksy. Usually centred on pop culture, the graffiti mashes up western icons with Indian settings.

In one artwork, John Lennon can be spotted wearing a lungi.

I painted a hard-edge painting of John in Crayola acrylics for my art class. We had to choose a celebrity and select a photo of him/her to use as a reference. As I’m sure you can tell, my reference was the photo of John that came with the White Album . Maybe I’ll do the other Beatles in the same style at some point, just for fun.

You and your thought-provoking questions, @Ahhh Girl a-hard-days-night-john-6

Well, honestly my brain was still waking up since I have art at 8:00 AM after having woken up at 5:30 AM, ridden the school bus half asleep, and plodded through English class. However, besides agonizing over my exams, assignments, etc. in my other classes, I did ponder things like: What’s the best song on the White Album ? Why haven’t so many of my peers heard of Lennon—or any other artist from more than 10 years ago—and why can’t I mix this color properly?! a-hard-days-night-george-10

Haha, I didn’t catch that typo—seriously Ahhh Girl, I didn’t think my painting was so bad it caused John pain! a-hard-days-night-george-10

And thank you @Ron Nasty, I think I will do the rest. It may take a little while, but after I finish each painting I’ll post them here.

LOL!!!! See what happens when I post when tired (PWT)*. I don’t think you pained John at all. You did right by him. We will be waiting for your next creations. Hopefully some of your classmates will see your painting and you can open a conversation with them about The Beatles.

I had been sleepy all day yesterday. I fell sound asleep not long after making that post and slept for 12 hours…and cursed the alarm clock when it went off.

The Beatles made with Jelly Beans

Which is a good way to begin the story some of you have been waiting to hear about my Photoshop mission for @Starr Shine?.

In the “Is All Modern Music Terrible?” thread, @Joe suggested that I listen to some songs by St. Vincent. He and I began emailing about some of her work. I mentioned that I liked this image from one of her lyrics

As if the Seurat painted the Rio Grande

I told him that when I think of Seurat now, I think of this remake of one of his paintings.

Seurat-with-digitial-objects.jpgImage Enlarger

He thought that was pretty nifty, and he found this page: IF FAMOUS PAINTINGS HAD THEIR SUBJECTS USING SMARTPHONES

Here are two pictures from the page.

van-Goghs-old-man-with-broken-phone.jpgImage Enlarger

card-players-with-phones.jpgImage Enlarger

I then told Joe that I thought it would be cool if someone would Photoshop some tech gadgets into photos of The Beatles, and I knew just the person to call upon for the task.

Annadog, take a bow. These are wonderful!

I would love to see more pictures like this if anyone is up to the challenge.

I never thought of Eleanor Rigby being a mask wearing alien monster who is killed by being steaked in the chest or that Father MacKenzie covers it all up by giving her a quick burial..

Not all monsters are aliens. You don’t know if she is not from earth or not.

Very true. Will have to do some summoning reincarnation back-from-the-dead spell to ask her. Tho im not sure she would be in a good mood having been stabbed in the heart but she really should look at it that she is back alive (or non-dead), the cup half-filled angle.
