Sorry, but I’m going to be a little deviant here. I decided the criteria here was to name the film that most connects with your appreciation of the group. Therefore, my favourite Beatles movie is The Rutles’ All You Need Is Cash.
That is a great movie, and I can’t get “Goose-Step Mama” out of my head.

I haven’t seen it in a while but err..yeah I think it is. She probably won’t understand a lot of it anyway.

@Egroeg Evoli It’s totally appropriate. I mean, there’s one scene that’s weird… like, really weird, but it’s totally fine.
Right… so I watched it, and I probably should have mentioned that she’s 7 years old. The stripper scene isn’t exactly what I’d consider appropriate for her… Anyway, I loved the movie. It made almost no sense, but that’s just the kind of thing I love!

I tried to watch Help ! using the link on the first page, like I did with AHDN , but it won’t work because of copyright infringement. I should have watched it while I was able to. Oh, well. Does anybody know how I can watch it legally?
This works in UK, while it is up. If you can download it would recommend. There’s a good YouTube downloader (free version available that I use) called YTD Video Downloader. Hope this link works, and that I don’t get in too much trouble since the film’s about to pop here:

I don’t think YouTube downloaders are legal..
YTD Video Downloader is totally legal, whether what somebody chooses to download using it is is up them. There is nothing illegal about downloading video material that is not copyrighted, it is only copyrighted material that people need ask themselves a question about. We all deal with that in our own way. I am not advocating the downloading of copyrighted material, just saying there is a legal programme that allows downloading, and the distinction between how you use it is up to the individual. The vast majority of links to YouTube that appear on this site are to things it is difficult to tell their legality, so long as the copyright holder has not had it removed, and in the legislation (UK) I am living under the downloading of material from is legal and provided for, I say each to their own.

Isn’t Help ! copyrighted? I guess it doesn’t really matter; I only said that because she asked for a legal way to watch it.

Everything on YouTube is copyrighted unless the person or company who shot it/produced it specifically gave their rights away in writing, or the copyright has since run out. Help ! is a copyrighted movie. So, no, unless you paid for it, it’s not a legal download.

Isn’t this turning into the old argument about home-taping? I watched a news report about the Daytona crash today, and they were using footage that was posted on YouTube without crediting anyone, and probably not paying anyone. Doesn’t this just happen? I should add, I have my bought and paid for copy. I would see nothing wrong with a back-up though. And I’m sure there are lots of us – I know there are lots of us, who have things that are “bootleg” and have no qualms about it.

No.
Whether or not you can get away with downloading is a different question from whether or not it’s legal. Downloading Help ! from YouTube no more legal than downloading Beatles mp3’s from unauthorized sources. You want to do it, that’s on you, but someone asked for a legal source, and YouTube is not it (save for the paid downloads they’ve begun to make available). I know people like to labor under the impression that everything on the internet is “public domain,” but it’s not.

Parlance, Egroeg said that she had tried watching it using the YouTube link on the first page of this thread, and that that link had been disabled, therefore – it seems to me happy to watch it on YouTube – so I provided the current link. I also pointed out a way to download from YouTube. A program that is supported by YouTube. Should you be saying that you have never watched anything on YouTube by a recognised artist that is not on their official channel I take off my hat to you, because you type in the phrase “The Beatles” and virtually everything that comes up is questionable. I would say there is little difference between watching something you know doesn’t have the artists permission to be there or downloading it. Maybe all this will get me a telling off from Joe, but then there have been lots of conversations on here about the isolated tracks and places to look and what to do when you have them. It is interesting how The Beatles seem happy to leave so much unreleased material available on YouTube, yet are quite quick to pull released material. I would always buy an official version where available, but that doesn’t stop me grabbing every Get Back outtake I can lay my hands on. Like I say, if you’ve never listened to any unreleased, or a had a friend do you a copy of something you don’t have, insisting that you won’t listen until it’s released or you can afford it, hats off to you. I wish I was so moral.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to start an argument… All I really meant was “is there a way to watch it without it being disabled because of copyright infringements,” and I didn’t intend to start this. If it’ll stop the argument, where can I buy the movie?
(But I actually have something to say real quick: As far as I know, watching illegal YouTube videos is not illegal. It’s only illegal to post them, and the people who watch them are not at fault. Right?)

You can keep conflating watching with downloading in order to create justifications for downloading illegal material or to have the last word all you want. But I’ve already addressed your arguments above and there’s no reason to repeat myself. You want to do it, again, that’s on your conscience. But don’t offer misleading information on the legal nature of it. Notice I never said anything about the ethics of your personal choices, because I don’t care. I am concerned that the correct information is being shared.
And no, Egroeg Evoli, it’s not illegal to watch it on YouTube. The responsibility is on the person who uploaded the material. When you upload you have to attest that you own the copyright or have the owner’s permission. As for downloading legally, maybe iTunes or Amazon has it?

Oops! Egroeg, do not feel you started an argument. There are plenty of other occasions when I could have pointed out there is a perfectly legal download tool supported by YouTube and the same response would have been had. parlance, I am sorry to see us disagree again, but I am afraid to say that we will have to leave it at that we disagree… Peace & Love.

Ive Sky+’d MMT from Christmas, am i breaking the law? Or only if downloaded from BBC iplayer catchup?
The biggest concern if downloading from youtube is that the quality wont be as good as the dvd or Blue Ray and you wont get the bonus stuff (if you care about that).
Just remember that downloading is illegal – if you do you are only sending cash to drug dealers in Mali, financing banks to mess the economy up and then reward the chairmen for doing so, and stealing footballs from teams who cant afford them.

My favorite movie definatly has to be Help ! I just loved the James Bond – related aspect, the story plt, comedy, and the house of The Beatles. That was the best set in the film.
Second favorite Yellow Submarine
Third: Magical Mystery Tour
I haven’t watched A Hard Day’s Night or Let It Be , but i assume I would like AHDN better.
And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

I’ve seen all of them, so here’s how I see it:
1. A Hard Day’s Night – It captures Beatlemania at its best
2. Yellow Submarine – Wonderfully subversive, and encapsulates psychedelia at its finest
3. Magical Mystery Tour – Not a great narrative, but exists as an excellent video collection from 1967
4. Help ! – A vanity piece with lots to love
5. Let It Be – A depressing look at a band falling apart. There are a few great moments, but not a good experience altogether.

That would be my exact order except I’d flip MMT and YS. Funny enough, last week I loaded all 5 on to my iPad and I’ve been going through them in order because it’s been probably 10 years since I watched any of them all the way through. I’m on MMT now.
