I’ve always enjoyed it, perhaps because the moments are more important to me than the overall arc. But that’s just me.
Me with Help .

YS is more fun to me than Help ! because 1) I kinda grew up with it and its soundtrack, and 2) I love the art.

I grew up with AHDN , Help , and YS in equal amounts, but that wasn’t really what I meant– I just meant that, like Yellow Submarine , it’s the individual moments and scenes that make the movie so fantastic, not the plot.

I know, I was just making the point that I personally enjoy YS more than Help ! because of the pretty animation and psychedelic nonsense.

hehehehe yes indeed, the same applies to MMT and, in a way, AHDN (it still has a decent plot but WHO NEED A PLOT WHEN YOU HAVE JOHN IN A BATHTUB PLAYING WITH A TOY BOAT!?!)

AHDN I can sit through because they’re having fun and no one realizes they’re being used by the machine to perpetuate a myth. HELP! Is even worse, trying to paint the band as this whimsical group of lads. Its a good film but its everything wrong with Beatlemania. MMT I can stand because it’s them doing Monty Python and it’s fun. I DO curse it for the fact that it’s Paul’s vanity project and the others hated it. and Let It Be was a bad idea and should never have happened.
There, I just ruined all the films for ya!

Pfft, it’d take more than that to ruin the Beatles films for me. Nice try, but no dice.

I love Let it Be; it annoys me that people are always talking about how “depressing” and “hard to watch” it is. I think it is much better than the other films because it’s just them, and even though they’re in the process of breaking up, you can still tell they’re just friends. Magical Mystery Tour is my second favorite just because it’s so weird and it was actually their idea (well, sort of/not really). It has some really great scenes in it (“I was half an hour looking for that sugar, I tell you!”) I personally can’t stand Yellow Submarine : something about the combination of the bad accents, over-exaggerated personalities, and the fact that the actual Beatles had no involvement whatsoever makes it incredibly difficult for me to sit through. That said, I’m glad it exists, because we wouldn’t have Hey Bulldog , It’s All Too Much , or It’s Only A Northern Song without it.

Oh, my only thing with Let It Be was it was a bad idea. It helped NOTHING at that point for the band to have cameras in their face like an HBO special. (Oooh, but then again, can you imagine if All four were alive? An HBO special following each of them around individually would be cool!)

It definitely would have been cool to have the real Beatles voicing themselves in Yellow Submarine , but I don’t think it would have made a huge difference to the quality of the film. As it is, the perhaps over exaggerated accents fit perfectly with the over exaggerated characters, in my opinion, since it adds to the cartoonishness.

I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Anyways, that film doesn’t even feature “The Beatles” – it says “Starring SPLHCB ” right at the beginning.

I guess… but at times it’s hard to tell who is supposed to be speaking, especially since several characters in the film were voiced by the same actor.

I like this one a lot more than Help ! or A Hard Day’s Night . It’s just more vibrant and fun. Shame they couldn’t have voiced themselves, but I don’t think it detracts from the film at all.

I have yet to sit down & watch the whole film. Seen bit & pieces….
Has nothing on the other 2 movies. How could it? The Beatles aren’t in it (other than the special outro)

Each of those first three Beatlefilms does some amazing things that neither of the others can duplicate; I can imagine either one being someone’s choice for #1

Ooh, I’m tuning in for this!
Also, I love how most of the comments are about Ringo being a hypebeast with that hoodie.

Question: Is it possible that Ringo listens and likes trap/rap/hip-hop music???? I’m really curious about this now…..like does he listen to Drake? Post Malone? Logic? Travis Scott? Kendrick Lamar? Does Paul ever dabble in this genre? I need answers!

Oh god, you’ve just put the image of Paul and Ringo strutting around some Liverpool car park in hoodies and flexing Beatles merch to a trap beat and I can’t stop giggling. Now there’s a future Peppdog doodle…

I quite like the idea of Ringo getting down the kids on his next release, laying down the beat and, erm… I have no idea what the kids language is.
