As mentioned briefly elsewhere Yellow Submarine remastered is scheduled to be reissued on May 29th (North America) and May 28th (Rest of the World) on dvd and blue-ray.
More details of the release have been announced as well as a trailer (which includes an annoying voice over). The most interesting part of the trailer is footage of the Beatles seemingly watching the film (they are in a film theatre but it could be mocked up) and messing about with camera’s and other things. Hopefully that will be included in all its glory in the extras.
Yellow Submarine Songtrack remastered will also be rereleased alongside the DVD/Blue Ray with the same contents as before. It will presumably be made available on itunes so hopefully Its All Too Much will be issued in all 8 minutes of complete mayhem as a bonus track.

That’s great! I have it on a casette tape, but I watched it too many times. The reel broke I remember when I was little I loved it before I became a big fan. I can’t believe I thought of George as “that grumpy guy with the mustache”. Now I think of him as “MY HERO WHO I LOVE WHO GAVE ME SO MUCH I LOVE HIM I LOVE YOU GEORGE”.
I am very happy, and one reason is because I have The Beatles. Thank you!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

I just saw Yellow Submarine in theaters a couple days ago, didn’t think I’d ever have the chance to. It’s really awesome in theaters with a full picture and surround sound. In particular Only A Northern Song is cool in surround with the sound effects coming from all sides.

Damn…I hate buying things I already have but this thing looks really nice. Even though a lot of those extras (like the interviews) I already have on the 1999 edition of the DVD.
I think it’s too bad that, if they were restoring the film/cleaning up the visuals, they couldn’t have somehow added the psychedelic background that was supposed to replace the plain black behind the Beatles in the closing scene. (It was never added because of time/budget constraints; the black was supposed to be temporary.)

“…L is for ‘Love me!'”
Had to watch this again myself two nights ago after seeing the thread revived. I gotta say, I think it loses a bit of steam in the final third, when they finally arrive in Pepperland – but it’s still really cool, even if you’re NOT high! (Have to try it satan’s way sometime…) One favourite moment (out of many): the totally random appearance of a Blue Meany during “When I’m 64”. Also great: Paul trying not to laugh at John’s “Newer and bluer Meanies…” remark at the end!

Unless she was already ‘in the fold’, trying to impress a girl with Yellow Submarine wasn’t the best thing you could do.
Not to insult the fairer sex, but if you’re looking to woo a lady, stick with something fairly lowbrow to start. There’s a reason those Nickelback shows are stuffed with hot chicks. All style, zero substance.
Again… This is a broad generalization. Not a generalization about broads. There seem to be some very smart ladies who reside within this forum.

People – stop expecting your non Beatles loving friends to be in love with Beatles related things. It is purely selfish to force a friend to watch a movie with you when she isn’t a fan. It makes her annoyed, it makes me resentful, and frankly, it’s mean as f**k. I know 95 percent of my friends in real life don’t give a s**t about the Beatles. So, I don’t talk about the Beatles in there presence. I don’t bore them with The Beatles. I don’t go make them watch movies by The Beatles. It’s not a good thing to do.

This is truth.
And if you think they’re receptive to new things, DO NOT start with ‘Yellow Submarine ‘, unless they are regular pot smokers. Seriously.
