Hi Zig. let me clear up this do whatever thing, one of the reasons they were nice is that it was never do it, but can you do it, in a polite manner, or Kevin/ Mal I need this, a ta would always accompany a job done for them. we would try and do whatever they wanted because that’s what we were paid to do, example, George walked in the studio one evening with dog s**t on his shoe and asked me if I would mind cleaning it off for him, Zig. I didn’t mind at all so I did it. no big deal no problem job done.
Oh my God , I love that story. We all appreciate your taking the time to share these with us.

…and he wrote “Old Brown Shoe ” the next day!
That’s a fantastic story – wonder how much money that shoe would be worth to collectors?
Thanks for posting here kneeler!

Wow! I’m quite excited to see we have someone who was a part of The Beatles’ circle among us! Welcome, kneeler. I am sure I speak for everyone here to say I’m fascinated by whatever stories you want to tell. As you say, there have been all sorts of books written about The Beatles, but, as Zig pointed out, many of the stories, especially from that period, make the band sound like the most miserable people on earth to deal with. It was really refreshing to read your descriptions.
I imagine you’ve read most of the books — do you think any of them get the story right, at least from what you were able to see? My own feeling is your story about George’s shoe would have been written this way in at least one of the books I’ve read: “One day, George stormed angrily into the studio after having stepped in dog excrement, stalked over to equipment manager Kevin Harrington and sneered ‘Here! Clean this!’ before sullenly picking up his guitar and then sitting in the corner, unsmiling, for the rest of the day.”
I've got nothing to say, but it's okay..
GOOD MORNING!

Kneeler, I think a proper introduction is in order. Will you please introduce yourself here?

Hi Long John. Worked for George on All Things Must Pass but left during it to work for Derek and the Domino’s, then was asked to do equipment on the Bangladesh concert, saw Paul and Linda during Steve Harley session at Abbey Road in 1976 that was last time I saw any of them.

This is mind blowingly cool! Welcome Kneeler!
Maybe you could help with something from another thread. Who played bass on Birthday ? It’s one of this questions that gets debated here from time to time. Another question. Do you have any cool keepsakes from that time of your life?
Again… Welcome!!!!
/ now if we could just get Paul, Ringo and George Martin to open an account… Or maybe they already have. One never knows

Kneeler, great to have you!
Was the atmosphere during the Get Back sessions as bad as they’re made out to be? Worse?
Listening to the music, sounds like there were some good times; but the poisonous moments may not have all been recorded…

Oh, so you also met Eric Clapton? Sweet. Thanks for sharing your story, too bad you weren’t there for Sgt. Pepper era, to answer the question about the ahhs from A Day In The Life xD, I think that’s most debated thing on this forum.

Hello Diamonds. Personally I don’t think they were as bad, but bear in mind they were not used to having so many people around when recording and I think that just highlighted the personal tensions that were around at that time. everything that happened in the studio was recorded, I know there were meetings outside studio time but hey there was no hate between them just disagreement’s, which every band I have ever worked for has had.

Interesting discussion. This just goes to show the differences in Beatles fans. I never even heard of the guy “Mal” before, lol. I.e., my level of fandomship just doesn’t get that deep, I guess, to know all these historical details. This kind of reminds me of Trekkies…
