What would change if the Beatles didn’t make any movies?
George for one, wouldn’t of met Pattie or been introduced to Hinduism.

They wouldn’t have had the Twickenham sessions and George wouldn’t have walked out.
We’d be without the rooftop show, of course, but it might have been better for them to have had a proper break after the White Album sessions. It might have given them a chance to get Apple’s house in order too, lessening the messy end that did occur.

But Let It Be didn’t start out as a movie. It took a long and winding road to get there.

Weren’t they filming on day one? They didn’t know how it would end, but I’m sure they were intending to get either a film or a TV special out of it.

It started life as a televised live show, then the idea of filming them rehearsing was tagged on, with the idea that might be a behind-the-scenes show to go with the concert, and the concert was dropped (bar popping up to the roof), and the TV shows were dropped, and it became the movie we all know and love.

If there was no intentional film footage of them, The Beatles would’ve never been on the Ed Sullivan Show and therefore would’ve failed in the US.

It seems like A Hard Day’s Night was extremely important in giving a lot of people something visual to grab onto that was more meaty than one or two songs on TV and in displaying the humor and personality of the group in some depth. I think if there was no AHDN film it certainly would have changed the trajectory of the group.

But they already made it with I wanna hold your hand before ed Sullivan happens.
But since this is about movies not show, it would still happen

We probably wouldn’t have gotten The Monkees, the tv program (and possibly not the band.) Possibly the entire realm of music videos would never have taken off, as well.

Neither The Byrds since they were kinda influenced by George’s 12 string guitar in A Hard Day’s Night …
