Hello
I was just wondering if there is any way to get most of the original music videos of their songs, some are available on YouTube and some on internet downloads but I just can’t find a few of them, and I’d really like to have a collection of their videos on the best quality possible. I’m not aware if this was asked before (probably yes), I can’t find it by searching anyway. I saw on Wikipedia that there were actually many versions of some music videos, like Revolution or Rain just to name two – all their catalogue was so carefully remastered on one “side” and bootlegged on the other, so I can’t understand why is it so hard to find their videos nowadays. I appreciate any help, thanks!

There are numerous fan gathered unofficial releases, going into their hundreds. Chronology 1 & 2 is one of the most complete as is Unsurpassed Promo’s (from the same person who compiled Unsurpassed Broadcasts which gathered together all the bbc material) which is also in two parts: The Tour Years and The Studio Years. This wogblog entry discusses Unsurpassed Promo’s and mentions a few other dvds for the promo’s.
As to where to get them from i honestly don’t know of anywhere which has links currently active.
As for why the promo’s are difficult to find on the net, well Apple or Universal or both claim copyright infringement and get them deleted.
Why don’t Apple release them? Because Apple are tools and won’t type Beatles on their computer screen without having 47 meetings beforehand, and that’s after the heavy debating and negotiations over which type of biscuit to have at each meeting and who goes to get them from the nearest shop. And if its raining outside then they have to cancel the meeting in case the umbrellas get wet and lord above if its raining in the morning they can’t get into work as they can’t leave their houses. And everyone has to agree about everything before anything can be considering for possibily being mentioned about maybe getting released. Its a hard job working at Apple.

It is rumoured that there will be a DVD based around the 1 album later this year. Of course, that would leave some pretty big holes so far as their promo films is concerned. No Rain , no Strawberry Fields, no Revolution , no Hey Bulldog (though that was put together much later), no Free As A Bird or Real Love (a good thing some would say, though I love the Free As A Bird video much more than the song). That is not to say that they could not include those as “bonus” material.
The sad thing is that the promo films exist in multiple versions, and there is little chance that, if this 1 DVD does see the light of day, it will include all that it could.

If it is based on 1 then there should be a 1 disc edition which has videos for all the tracks on 1, with extras like Rain , TOU, SFF, RL & FAAB, and a deluxe edition with everything, all the original promos in all their variations. Covers the casual fans who are only interested in the basic one clip for one song formation as well as the hardcore Beatles fans and/or collectors.
Sadly i have my doubts, and that cynic in me when it comes to Apple can see new edits being made for a handful of songs, like with the Lennon Legend DVD, and once again pissing off fans. Maybe their policy is why do what bootleggers can do brilliantly when we can do it crappier?

^that question you pose about bootleggers vs the record companies is down to passion…bootleggers and the fans who make/collect them have more of it!
I’ve got the 2DVD boot set “Beatles Chronology” that has EVERY promo film, including alternate versions, as well as the various Apple Records promos from ’68 and it’s invaluable. I highly doubt any official collection would force me to get rid of it. I wish Apple would take a look or three at it for inspiration.

Won’t embed but you can find the Help! promo (not the one in the film) here clean (ie without any logo’s or anything on the screen) (was posted over at Beatles Video Of The Day).
If anyone can think of anywhere else to post this then feel free to ask a mod to move it but cant see why it cant go in a thread on the music video’s.

Saw this article over on Wogblog and thought folk might be interested – ‘192 TV’, a tv station in Holland, broadcast 33 Beatles promo’s last Saturday (23 August 2014) and another 15 solo promo’s the following day.
@Linde, did you see this?
As for an official DVD release for the video’s wogblog notes at the end of a report on an upcoming vinyl re-release of ‘1’
Disappointingly though, the release plans has blu-ray and DVD entries as well, but no such thing for the “1” themed release which last December was planned for this October.

I did, yeah! I actually missed half of it as I was watching a concert by another band on another channel. I knew it would be on, but hey, choices have to be made. Watched the rest of it after the concert finished. They left out Something though, which I found a bit odd.
The show covering the solo promo’s was called John, Paul, George and Ringo, but they only showed 1 George song (My Sweet Lord ) and no Ringo at all. So that was a bit weird. And I’ve seen both Photograph and It Don’t Come Easy multiple times on that channel. I do watch that channel quite often, it shows good music. Old music, mostly.

Examiner article on a number of video’s appearing on the Beatles official youtube channel; a handful are on the making of ‘Help ‘, others are from the ‘Get/Back’ sessions, and a further video promotes the US albums being released.
The footage from ‘Get Back /Let It Be ‘ looks incredible. Hopefully this signals the actual film is close to release.
