For the 30th Anniversary White Album they gave us a mini replica of the original album that wasn’t even remastered. And the worst thing is that stupid folks like me bought it when it came out. Never been played.
Im convinced Apple put together a White Album boxset for either the 30th or 40th anniversary but it got ditched near the time of release, tho I cant find a trace of it online.

Ha! I was still replacing my vinyl copies with CD copies at that time, and hadn’t got around to The White Album . Always other things higher on the list. That nice little numbered repro made me get around to it. And when the remaster came out, I just swapped the sleeves that they were in over!
Never heard of a proposed “White Album ” box set.

I definitely read it somewhere, the story went that there was also a proposed US radio special.

Not sure where to post this but found over at Wogblog. This is what should among the options on any Live DVD Apple put out wherever available.

Talk on the quiet was that it was ditched very soon after the initial announcement, so possibly just Apple’s way of getting fans to donate any video/audio they didn’t have in their own vaults, the thinking being that the fans wouldn’t just give it over so why not make it out that it was for a new release.
Anyone with any sense would give Apple a copy of it – tho Apple would probably sue them claiming copyright infringement and demand the original and all other copies.

Aw, really? That’s a shame, I was quite looking forward to it. The way the trailer and PR was, I thought it was going to be quite ground-breaking. Honestly, I’m growing to really dislike Apple recently.
I don’t really see why people ”with sense” should give their footage to Apple, though. What’s in it for them? Keep it for yourself and it’s private, and you have the knowledge that you own something no one else does. I don’t think I’d give them anything just for the sake of it.

I meant they would have the sense to give them a copy instead of the original or sole copy they own. Many won’t have gotten in contact due to how Apple operate.
The talk wasn’t based on official comments by the way but more than just some random folk on an internet who know no-one so something might be still in the pipeline. Tho i won’t advise holding your breath.

Ah, sorry, misunderstood there.
What about the video-thing, though? The one they put out to encourage people to send their footage in? Or did I completely imagine/get mixed up about that? I’m confused

Interestingly the video on the main Beatles page (that won’t work for me) just says share your experiences and be a part of it. No mention of any official release coming soon or anything else. I went back to the first post on this and the link comes up as an error “Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to http://www.thebeatlesliveproject.com. Try reloading: http://www.thebeatlesliveproject.com“.
Doing a google search brought up the news page on the Beatles main site and another you can open that asks for your favourite performance but, as i said, the video is dead (“embedding disabled by request. Watch on youtube” is the message displayed when clicked) and the other media isnt displaying (whatever it is). Anyone else getting better results?
Even the original video i posted now doesnt exist there, tho it is on youtube on the official Beatles account – which won’t embed here.
Has the feeling from all of that of an old abandoned ruin.

Yep! it’s been that way for over a year now. Shame, seemed like it would’ve been a great project.

Someone may have posted this all ready somewhere else here recently with all the 50th Anniversary celebrations going round, but there is a concerted effort on the Carnegie Hall site http://www.carnegiehall.org/Bl…..4295002648 attempting to identify the woman pictured here who appears to be filming The Beatles performing at the famed venue in 1964, not sure if it’s related to the ‘Live Project’ discussed here but efforts to obtain “private” footage are still being made….:-)

What I find interesting about the prospect of securing the Carnegie Hall footage is that the CameraWoman is situated behind the group which would give us a rare viewpoint for I haven’t seen much in the way of live footage filmed from that angle. It would be more like viewing the show from The Beatles’ eyes and what it was actually like to face the Mania while playing, an important moment in BeatleLore that may just be sitting in a tin can somewhere waiting to be unearthed…:-)

Over in the Beatles News thread Expert Texpert posted an article from Variety reporting Ron Howard is directing an official Beatles Tour documentary.
Maybe thats what the delay has been, getting the right team in place who were to make it, not that it would explain why the original site collapsed. Exciting to hear tho and hopefully it wont take years for it to see the light; the amount of unseen and unheard material Apple has access to is mouthwatering so hopefully they utilise the large majority of it. How long was Scorsese working on ‘Living In The Material World ‘ before it came out?

This looks promising. Ron Howard talks about digitally restoring silent footage and matching it with existing audio to create a concert experience:
