I expect that fans of the series will have to settle for watching Youtubes – I can’t really see them releasing this on any commercial format anytime soon. (But who really knows?)

Just watched an episode on YouTube called “Penny Lane “. Being from Liverpool myself i’m amazed the voice actors even got the job. Paul sounds Australian for a start. I might re-dub these myself:)

Indubidately, good chap! For one thing in particular, we, the people of the British Empire, do not all talk with such high class!

That pretty well sums it up. It was done crappily, (especially the voices) but as a Beatles fan, it is kind of fun & watchable. Especially the sing alongs!

Happy 49th anniversary to the cartoon! From Fab Four FAQ 2.0:
Also on September 25: On this day in 1965, The Beatles Cartoon series premiered on US television.
Reviled by some (Brits particularly, it seems) and loved as a nostalgic feature of a generation’s childhood, this low rent cash-in exercise in exploitation served to dumb down and amplify caricatures first established in A Hard Day’s Night: John, the leader; Paul the cute one; George, the taciturn second-tier Beatle, and Ringo, the lovable dummy. It began in arguably the year that American Beatlemania reached its zenith (when they played Shea and before bad press and weirdness took its toll in the public mindset) and ended in September 1969, although the final two years were all reruns.
Like The Honeymooners, there were a total of 39 episodes produced; though the last new installment aired in October 1967, the show’s makers ignored Sgt. Pepper ’s existence completely (as well as the group’s evolving looks), venturing no further forward musically than the January single, “Penny Lane ” / “Strawberry Fields Forever .” Seen in the clip posted here (coupling a pair of psychedelic John songs: “Rain ” and “Strawberry Fields” – the former for the sing-along segment), the animators briefly toyed with updating John’s look for the latter tune, giving him glasses (but no moustache) – and then taking it away.
It remains one of the show’s most strikingly effective pieces of musical representation.

Another Beatley person has passed away: Lance Percival, who was the voice of Paul and Ringo in the animated series, and Old Fred in Yellow Submarine died on Tuesday.

It would be cool if Apple released a set on Blu-ray and DVD – I’m just coming across this show so I looked it up and found that Apple bought the rights to it awhile back, so perhaps they plan to do something with in the future (or they just want to make sure nobody else buys them)
It’d also be cool to bring a new version of this series back

^ I’ve said before that it would be great if it was restored and the poor quality original recordings were replaced by the 2009 remasters.
I’d watch it and I think it would open up The Beatles to good merchandising opportunities, parents of 4-8 year olds (probably the target audience) would spend millions on Beatles’ dolls for their wee ones. Not to mention older Beatle fans like us.
We all know Apple likes money and what better money than middle-class/rich parents that would be willing to spend loads on toys for their children.

^ Exactly, it’d be warmly-welcomed on children’s tv I think. It’s a good nostalgia bit for grandparents and parents and it also exposes children to new music.

It it was rebooted, I think that it would be a lot more colorful and deal with more slice-of-life (or Day In The Life) plots since that is a trend in cartoons. They might suck the Beatles in to the future and have a bunch of internet humor. Maybe they will take inspiration from Alvin and the Chipmunks and have Brian be the put upon parental figure.
It would probably still have them touring the world and running from fan girls.

I’ve seen pictures of the cartoons, but never actually saw a video, that is until now. I agree with some of the previous posters. They’re alright for a laugh, but the American accents are awful, and couldn’t they at least have tried to find actors that sounds remotely like the Beatles? I’ve seen two now, but I’m not itching to see more. Give me Yellow Submarine over these any day.
