John’s joke “The Bottles!” is just the best joke of the year and I wish I’d thought of it when I was about 5 so I could say I was first.

Obviously it looks incredible and it’s nice to hear a different edit of ‘Get Back ‘. I’m going to try and really enjoy it regardless of how it’s done as we are getting the original film as well – will see how it goes.
A couple of comments on what’s been posted above.
Apple are not going to put up a montage where they show the four looking bored, fed-up and pissed off. No film ever would regardless of the topic as it would put folk off from wanting to see it. Obviously it could very well turn into the story of the four best friends having 28 days of hilarity but here is not the place any misery is going to be seen. The video doesn’t even include anything from Twickenham from what I saw, I could be wrong
There is no benefit to having Paul swear as then warnings and age certificates come into place, only the hardcore and more knowledgeable fans will even know it’s been edited out. Apple have also been editing swearing out of their releases for years; for example, they took out John saying “Oh s**t! Wrong chord!’ from the beginning of the ‘Happiness Is A Warm Gun ‘ demo on the 50th anniversary box. You can even compare the three anniversary sets to the amount of swearing John does on the recordings on the ‘Imagine ‘ set to see how different it is or even the Anthology discs. We know the Beatles swore as one listen to the excerpts from the ‘Sexy Sadie ‘ session shows it as John does when recording ‘One After 909 ‘ in 1963, Paul on take 6 of ‘ADITL’, George at the end of the ‘Penny Lane ‘ outtake and it is buried on ‘Hey Jude ‘.

I saw the sneak peak of Get Back on YouTube. My main impression of this compared with the original Let it Be movie is that John seems much more engaged and happy in this version. My memory of him in the Let it Be movie was that he stayed mostly quiet, off to the side with Yoko, and seemed somewhat uninterested and even impatient at times in dealing with Paul and his ideas. Almost like he was basically phoning it in. In this preview he seemed much more involved, and like an old friend joking around with his mates.
Maybe Jackson, knowing what we know now, wanted more of a spotlight on John than what we got before. Whereas Lindsey-Hogg wanted more of a spotlight on Paul, who was more engaged with the project? My impression from the Let it Be movie was that Paul was rather overbearing. I kind of resented Paul for a time after that, but I later realized that it was Paul who had to drag the Beatles over the finish line, as the others had checked out to some degree.

Ah, it might help if I back go back to the previous page to actually get the context of the previous posts instead of just ignoring them due to a non-understanding of the context…..

You are. There’s lots. All the shots with a coloured lighting backing – purple, yellow, green, red – or plain concrete walls, are Twickenham. If the flooring is green carpet, Savile Row; if it’s concrete, Twickenham. The long distance shots of them sitting in the round from the other end of Twickenham. There’s even a shot of Paul halfway up a rope hanging from the ceiling at Twickenham, and he’s about one floor up – not the type of height available at Savile Row.

My take. Those five minutes we’ve been allowed to see are the only scenes that Peter Jackson et al. could find of the band getting on. The rest of the film will just be the four looking bored, fed-up and pissed off…

I’m eager to see Get Back , it seems like the original Let it Be movie was very poorly put together. The only thing that concerns me is if, by trying to show a more fun and pleasant atmosphere between the Beatles, they end up with inferior music sections as a result. I have mixed feelings about The Lord of the Rings movies, and even more mixed feelings about The Hobbit trilogy, but Peter Jackson did probably as good a job as could be done adapting Tolkien’s LOTR. For some reason, I trust him with this project.

I do too. He’s a genuine fan and can’t be accused of not putting in effort when he’s helming a project.

In the Peter Jackson Get Back “sneak preview” where JL says that “Beatle George may face French Jail” at 1 min .36 seconds, I have managed to find out that this was from January 21st, and that the scene- contains a portion of “Improvisation” from DDSI 21.18.
Does anyone know where this can be found (Get Back Journals/Day by Day/ Camera B rolls etc), and on which disc? Thanks in advance.

Six hours+ in length and premiering over three nights on Disney+ on 25th, 26th and 27th November.
“The Beatles: Get Back“
A Disney+ Original Documentary Series Directed By Peter Jackson, To Debut Exclusively On Disney+
Over Six Hours of Never-Before-Seen Restored Footage, Including The Beatles’ Last Live Performance, to Roll Out on Disney+ Over Three Days, November 25, 26 and 27, 2021
The Walt Disney Studios, Apple Corps Ltd. and WingNut Films Productions Ltd. announced today that Disney+ will bring “The Beatles: Get Back ,” a Disney+ Original documentary series directed by Peter Jackson, to fans and music lovers worldwide.
Because of the wealth of tremendous footage Peter Jackson has reviewed, which he has spent the past three years restoring and editing, “The Beatles: Get Back ” will be presented as three separate episodes. Each episode is approximately two hours in length, rolling out over three days, November 25, 26 and 27, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
“As a huge Beatles fan myself, I am absolutely thrilled that Disney+ will be the home for this extraordinary documentary series by the legendary filmmaker Peter Jackson,” said Bob Iger, Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board, The Walt Disney Company. “This phenomenal collection of never-before-seen footage offers an unprecedented look at the close camaraderie, genius songwriting, and indelible impact of one of the most iconic and culturally influential bands of all time, and we can’t wait to share ‘The Beatles: Get Back ’ with fans around the world.”
Peter Jackson commented, “In many respects, Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s remarkable footage captured multiple storylines. The story of friends and of individuals. It is the story of human frailties and of a divine partnership. It is a detailed account of the creative process, with the crafting of iconic songs under pressure, set amid the social climate of early 1969. But it’s not nostalgia – it’s raw, honest, and human. Over six hours, you’ll get to know The Beatles with an intimacy that you never thought possible.”
He added, “I’m very grateful to The Beatles, Apple Corps and Disney for allowing me to present this story in exactly the way it should be told. I’ve been immersed in this project for nearly three years, and I’m very excited that audiences around the world will finally be able to see it.”
Directed by three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “They Shall Not Grow Old”), “The Beatles: Get Back ” takes audiences back in time to the band’s intimate recording sessions during a pivotal moment in music history. The documentary showcases the warmth, camaraderie and creative genius that defined the legacy of the iconic foursome, compiled from over 60 hours of unseen footage shot in January 1969 (by Michael Lindsay-Hogg) and more than 150 hours of unheard audio, all of which has been brilliantly restored. Jackson is the only person in 50 years to have been given access to these private film archives. “The Beatles: Get Back ” is the story of John Lennon , Paul McCartney , George Harrison and Ringo Starr as they plan their first live show in over two years, capturing the writing and rehearsing of 14 new songs, originally intended for release on an accompanying live album. The documentary features – for the first time in its entirety – The Beatles’ last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row, as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band’s final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be .
An exciting new collaboration between The Beatles and Jackson presented by The Walt Disney Studios in association with Apple Corps Ltd. and WingNut Films Productions Ltd., “The Beatles: Get Back ” is directed by Peter Jackson, produced by Clare Olssen (“They Shall Not Grow Old”) and Jonathan Clyde (“Eight Days A Week ”), with Ken Kamins (“The Hobbit” trilogy) and Apple Corps’ Jeff Jones (“Eight Days A Week ”) serving as executive producers. Jabez Olssen (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) serves as the documentary’s editor, and the music is mixed by Giles Martin (“Rocketman”) and Sam Okell (“Yesterday ”).
“The Beatles: Get Back ” is being made with the enthusiastic support of Paul McCartney , Ringo Starr , Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.
Ahead of the documentary’s Disney+ debut, Apple Corps Ltd./Callaway Arts & Entertainment will release The Beatles: Get Back book on October 12. Beautifully designed and produced, the 240-page hardcover complements the “Get Back ” documentary with transcriptions of The Beatles’ recorded conversations and hundreds of exclusive, never before published photos from the three weeks of sessions. The collectible book will be published in nine international language editions, including English.
This is going to be in the cinema, right? How is that going to work if 6 hours+ if it is, do you get a few intermissions to go to the pub and get your dinner?
That’s not a complaint. Six hours of never-before-seen footage!!!
Can’t remember if I haven’t used my free trial with Disney+, I’ve never watched it but might have signed up anyway, but regardless, I’ll be watching.

Listed on imdb as scheduled for cinema release on the 27th August 2021. I take it that has been moved to a later date if Disney+ has the premier so does anyone know how the cinema release is going to work? Will it be an edited down film version whereas Disney have it complete> I’m a little lost in all this.

The cinema would be screening it at the same time? That would be a new experience and one I’d be up for; three days watching the Beatles on the massive screens is definitely my idea of enjoyment. Would also mean the only film of theirs I haven’t seen in the cinema would be ‘Help !’ as it’s never been on when I’ve been alive.

Someone who watches the Marvel series would have to confirm this for me but I think they come out at around 7am our time (UK & Ireland).
So it’s not likely that it would be a proper live stream or that Disney will hold out for cinema screenings.
However, I can’t see it being done any other way bar doing a butcher cinema edit and I don’t know if that’s in the interests of the people who are actually going to watch GB – who are not casual fans but proper loser fans who are ecstatic at watching 6 hours of 52 year old footage of a band rehearsing. Three screenings also means 3x box office takings so it’s a win for Disney if cinemas are all open worldwide and we’re not in lockdown #426.

Vanity Fair article on the documentary.
It’s the Beatles as none would ever see or hear them again—their last live performance as a group, January 30, 1969. It’s also the Beatles as none of us, 52 years on, has ever seen them. The approximately 43-minute sequence from director Peter Jackson’s forthcoming documentary, The Beatles: Get Back —screened exclusively for Vanity Fair—shows the full, uninterrupted concert on the roof of 3 Savile Row, the band’s headquarters, including iconic performances that would appear on their last album, Let It Be . The original footage, taken from at least nine different cameras, has been scrubbed to astonishing clarity, detail, and color, a rapturous window in time. The doc will run on Disney+ over three nights on November 25, 26, and 27.
For his own project, Jackson decided that when Harrison and McCartney begin fighting—a brief but tense scene in which McCartney placates a wounded Harrison after criticizing his guitar parts—he would show not only that but the aftermath as well. Consequently, Jackson says, Get Back will be more revealing than the original, not less. “It’s a lot tougher movie than Let It Be ,” he says. “I mean, Let It Be couldn’t show George leaving the group, which he did on the seventh day, and then he obviously came back again. Let It Be never showed that.”
In a decisive and crucial creative act, Jackson says he avoided repeating footage from the original film. Even familiar scenes would use alternative camera angles. “One of our mantras is that Let It Be is one movie, and our movie is a different movie,” he says, “and we’re trying not to repeat any footage, with one or two tiny exceptions where we can’t do anything else. But we’re trying to not step on Let It Be ’s toes so that it is still a film that has a reason to exist, and our movie will be a supplement to it.”
