Will there be a download available instead of buying the physical package? Would mean I can ditch Disney+ and have it to watch with ease whenever.

There’s a moment in the movie I love, and it’s the guys essentially being told they’re international sources of inspiration. I’m 32 and they’re younger than me at that point in time, which really puts it into perspective. It’s a lot to live up to. The movie shows us the human side behind the myth. The myth being the finished product album we see on the shelf. At that time in the movie they’re struggling, but you know the genius they all have in them because of their back catalogue. And that they’ll make it happen again, even if it’s for one of the last time together. The Beatles had so many hits to reference by the time of Let It Be that they could’ve coasted on covers, but they didn’t. They made new content and were always of the present. I think that’s how everything should be.

Just the one UK showing announced for the 30 January, at the 500-seater Imax at the British Film Institute in London. Sold out in seconds.
500 seats for a country of over 67 million. There’s many more than 500 Beatles fans who’d love the chance to see it.

Von Auntie was over again on Sunday evening to watch the third installment, thoroughly riveted by the saga; we’re probably gonna invite her again some weekend afternoon to marathon the whole eight hours in one go – something I haven’t done myself.
I had to ask her something I’d been curious about for awhile, about how aware the general public (Londoners aside) were about the Beatles having done a gig on a rooftop at the time, when there wasn’t an internet or 24hr entertainment news to be had all the time, and the filmed record wouldn’t be seen for another 15 months. Did she learn about the performance in real time, as a 16-year old living in suburban Ontario? She told me yeah; she’d read about in “Tiger Beat” in spring ’69.

God YES! as they write in the news they concidered it for the LIB 50th box. I’d love it to be included. Yet Iam happy we get it the way it will be here. Iam hoping hoping hoping to be able to buy and download it anywhere!

Just something I thought about when I watched ‘Get Back ‘ … The Beatles really were a band and not ‘John & Paul and two others’. Ringo didn’t want to go abroad to play a show, so they didn’t. George thought playing in Libya was stupid and convinced the others.
Can you imagine Bill Wyman or Charlie Watts stopping Mick or Keith doing what they wanted? I wouldn’t have thought so?!

This is a wonderful long read about Get Back

I won’t add any spoilers, but there are some very touching observations, especially the one about Ringo.
My hot take is that after the Beatles split they went down the paths of spiritualism, solipsism, alcoholism, and Paul McCartney

Wonderful documentary and will watch it quite a few more times for sure.
I especially enjoyed seeing all four actually enjoying themselves on numerous occasions. If you had suddenly landed on earth with no idea who this Band was, you wouldn’t automatically think they were on the verge of breaking up.
John and Paul were frequently as close as ever and it was great to see, through their continuous eye contact during the many takes or “jams”, how much they still needed one another to function at their best.
But boy did Mr Preston make one hell of a difference….

Billy is such a hero . I love watching him do that dancey walk-in, knowing the lift he’s going to give them.
It amuses me that the doc. portrays it as a happy coincidence though. George definitely invited him on purpose.

The Daily Beatle reports that Disney have announced a delay to the DVD/Blu-ray of the series due to technical issues. Looking at what’s said over there, this may just affect the US release, which had by far the earliest release date of the 8 February (compared to the 28 February and 3 March for the UK and Germany respectively).
The Beatles official store and various sellers in the UK and Europe are still showing the announced dates.
I find the idea suggested by one US retailer of a delay until September laughable.

The article also says
In a Q&A before the IMAX screening of the film, filmmaker Peter Jackson once again urged people to demand an “extended cut” of the documentary series to be released, adding that he has four or five extra hours he would have liked to include.
This is the kind of thing that baffles me; why sit on a ton of footage when you know the director wants it out and the fans would give their money to buy it (that’s to both Apple and Disney)? The reception to the release was incredibly positive, why then start being stubborn now? Release the footage the director wants out there and get on with life. Folk make everything so much more of a struggle than it has to be.
