Assuming the premiere for the Norwegian fan club was the same as the London premiere, afraid there is no 100 minute version Bongo. It was more a preview of the series and what to expect rather than the showing of a 100 minute edit of the material.
Ya, there’s still hope Ron.
8 hours is great for us fabnatics, but I think they know, they will reach a larger audience with a DVD length movie. I hope down the road, we see one.
If not, here come the Bootleggers……
Curious how many of us would buy a 52 hour Get Back Blu Ray boxset????

I enjoyed George chatting to John and telling him he had so many songs and just wanted to get them out on an album of his own rather than give them away to someone else. I wish the others had gone along with this, taken a year out after Abbey Road and done their own thing and reconvened sometime in 1971, refreshed again! Oh Well!!
I too had a strong “what might have been” feeling when watching this – some kind of small course correction here or there, a kind word or shift in band dynamics, could have resolved some things and put the band into another orbit for the 70s. Sadly, too much had gone on for too long, people’s personal and inner lives had changed so much, business matters intruded, that this was impossible.

It seems to me that the biggest issue in 1970 was that Paul stopped fighting to keep the band together and instead realised that there was no coming back from Klein getting between them. He had to sue his three mates. The dread in his being when they are discussing if George will return is very evident, getting John into the building that day was a massive deal. In September(?) 1969 John announced his leaving but they might have managed to get it together again until Paul sued and then it was done. That’s not to say Klein was the only issue but he was a major division.
The issues in January 1969 were evident but there was still a desire to keep going, which is clear from the three wanting to meet with George as soon as possible, and then all four finding a compromise in getting into Apple, having Billy Preston join and ditching the TV show.
Currently I’m an hour into part two (and will continue watching later tonight) but the delight in seeing George back was massive. It’s easily the best programme/film I’ve watched in years. To watch all four together like this is beyond anything I could have hoped for a few years ago, so I don’t care about words out of sync or whatever errors or editing problems occur. I was yearning for a 90-minute ‘LOB’ reissue and maybe an hour or two of outtakes, instead I have almost 8 hours already of alternate footage never seen before with more to come and ‘LIB ‘ reissued. It’s like hoping you get a DVD from your granny for Christmas only for her to send you a year membership to Netflix, state of the art technology to watch it on and a weekly takeaway of your choice. To turn around and say “but I cannot watch a show on Apple TV’ is just missing what you got. So what Apple got the history wrong, they have given us something much greater.

Well i think Paul really tried to get them together as hard as he could. There is a moment i part 3 where he is upset for no particular reason but only because he thinks that it would be so sad to let the experience shrink as soon as they finish the tv sow/concert/whatever it was at that point… he wanted it to last a bit longer and to play live in front of an audience he really was trying to get them together at that moment right beofre Klein came in. But the other 3 really did not say anything, did not make any move in that direction, i think it was very clear they had come to an end and that there would be no more Beatles as they used to be.
To me they met with George because they wanted the whole thing to be finished asap but i think John, George and Ringo really knew The Beatles were done. And probably Paul too, only that he tried harder , for whatever reason, to keep them together.

You get the sense when George returns that they all start pulling in the same direction. The energy changes with John and the whole attitude of the band becomes more confident and optimistic, especially when Billy gets involved.
Interesting that some people want a single abridged cut, while others want extended bonus footage. I’m in the second group but it may have been a decent idea to release an hour and a half covering the whole month, and then an absurdly long extended cut for us hardcore fans.
As for the background intro, I got myself a drink during that so I didn’t see it.

I think we’ve all been there where you know you’re fighting a losing battle and part of you hates that you’re doing so but you have no other option as the only other one is to watch it die.
Paul fought for the band to stay together as long as he possibly could but he knew and has said that there came a point where he had to stop. He saw Klein was insanely bad news and to save everything they had built he had to sue his mates.
I felt sorry for Paul watching part one as he knew he was trying far too hard to get them going but he knew that he had to. You can see how much he hated doing it at times but it was either that or let it all die as no one else was going to and for him that was worse. And I think as much as it pissed George and John, they knew why he did it. It’s the first time I’ve went from thinking Paul was a really bossy annoying git to having sympathy for him. I think we’ve all been there where you continue to hang in and fight even tho you hate what you’re doing at times and know you’re ultimately fighting an ultimately unwinnable battle.
Paul admits in a conversation that, if made to choose, John would opt for Yoko over the Beatles. George would have been alright if the band split, tho I think he also would also been happy to have the solo life and get together as a band when it was right. Ringo simply loved hanging out and playing with his mates, it meant everything to him and you can see that when George has quit and John’s absent. He was always happy to go with the other three (by-and-large, there was the odd exception) as it meant they were together. He was never going to be the one tho to instigate all four working it out tho, again as we can see when everyone including Ringo looks to Paul to speak to John and figure out some kind of plan of what the hell they do, but you can see the pain he felt at George having left, not knowing what John was doing and if it was all over for them.

Finished Part 3, and boy, it was truly a doozy! The rooftop segment was undoubtedly the highlight, and seeing how it was done really gave me goosebumps anew.
I don’t know why I Want You (She’s So Heavy) wasn’t featured in that segment. Either they never filmed it at all, but did tape it, or Jackson thought it didn’t “fit”. Either way, seeing the new angles, split screen, and hearing the dialogue of the police officers really made it new yet familiar.
I figured that January 31 would get relatively short shrift compared to the rooftop, and you know what, that’s fine by me. You can’t really top what happened the day before anyways.
So all in all, this is 8 hours well spent, and it’s everything I hoped for, and more! Now I have a feeling what it must have been like for people waiting for the TV broadcast version of Anthology.
I would especially like nothing more than to read an article or an interview in the likes of Sound on Sound or whatever, regarding how the audio and video was restored.
Where’d you find the box set photo from, @Bongo ? I had no doubt that a home video will be happening, but is that real?

Jonathan Freedland writing in The Guardian:
The Beatles were like aliens from the future in 1969 – and they are still as radical today
And the larger part of you marvels at what these four people in their 20s did in little over six years: creating music that is truly timeless, in the sense not only that it will live on, but that much of it seems to exist outside time altogether. The finest Beatles melodies sound as if they are part of nature, as if they always existed and were only waiting to be picked up.

It’s a fan-made mock-up, @Toxic34 and @MattWatchingWheels (good to see you again Matt), apparent for several reasons.
For example, the Part 4 DVD. Should the DVD set include the suggested 6 hours of bonus footage, it will likely be added to 1 thru 3, rather than seeing the whole thing re-edited to create a fourth part;
on the spines, “DVD DISC 5” is out of line with all the other “DVD DISC” labels;
not only is the Let It Be film disc not marked as being a DVD, but sources suggest it will receive a standalone DVD/Blu-ray release next year, so is unlikely to feature in any Get Back DVD/Blu-ray release;
there is no theatrical cut of the film, the recent premiere events consisted of Jackson talking about the project for half-hour, along with clips, the 27 January segment from the series, and the rooftop (and the spine inlay pokes out on the left, showing the title has been edited in);
the two soundtrack audio discs are marked as being on Capitol instead of Apple, and if we do get a soundtrack audio release, you can bet they will issue it as a separate item because two multi-disc sets make more money than one.
