The one on the left looks a little bit like Paul, just not as slim. They might as well not bother trying to look like them, they’re obviously not going to acheive it.

The second one from the left looks about ten.

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

Not upcoming, more been and gone but you can download a couple of BBC programmes with Beatle themes (and many more without) from here (scroll down to locate).

When Cassius Met The Beatles

Wed, 12 Feb 14

Duration:
30 mins

The story of an unlikely meeting of two 20th century icons which happened in February 1964. The Beatles, on their first visit to the U.S. are set up for a photoshoot with boxer Cassius Clay (later to become Muhammad Ali), then about take on Sonny Liston for the world heavyweight title and considered very much the underdog. A few weeks later, both the band and Clay are global celebrities. John Wilson speaks to those who were there, with contributions from Paul McCartney . Part of Radio 4 on Music, re-releasing the best of the Radio 4 Music Archive.

Lennon: The Wenner Tapes

Wed, 18 Sep 13

Duration:
43 mins

It’s 1970 and John Lennon is about to release his first solo album. He’s not long emerged from months of Primal Therapy with its creator, Arthur Janov and he’s about to give his first major interview with Rolling Stone magazine. In it, he’ll talk openly about his solo career, the break-up of the world’s most famous band, his marriage and a lot more besides… There is frequent use of strong language. Part of Radio 4 on Music, re-releasing the best of Radio 4’s music back catalogue.

Which has some good stuff and well worth watching. Nana Mouskouri’s Hey Jude being a highlight.

‘The Beatles: The Night That Changed America – A Grammy Salute’ is finally getting a screening in the UK (except in Scotland) this Friday (2nd May) on ITV1 at 10:35pm. Viewers in Scotland can either watch it online (tvcatchup is a good site to use but you can also watch it on the main ITV website, just shove in any English postcode when prompted to enter one) or on Sky Channel 973 (if you have Sky obviously).

Looking forward to this, I’ve seen a few of the covers that were done but whether I’ll stay up to 12:30am is another story (why didn’t the BBC buy the rights to air it- no adds!)

In case you’re Dutch or Belgian, or from any country that can receive NPO Cultura, The First US Visit was on today, but it’s on tomorrow again, on NPO Cultura (no s**t). There’ll also be a special about their arrival and concert in the Netherlands, apparently they’ve found some new footage and pictures. Same channel. It’ll be repeated a few times over the day, so you can just pick a time to watch it yourself! Isn’t it amazing? Yes it is.
