This 2017 documentary was shown on Sky Arts this week and I have to say it’s a lovely, laid back and revealing insight into John’s childhood and adolescence. I saw plenty of photos I’ve not seen before, heard much more about why John went to stay with his aunt set in the social context of the time and digging into relationships than I’ve read and which seem to skirt around anything but the basic facts, and got nice first person stories from school friends and The Quarrymen members. I’m sure bits of this will have been in other documentaries but I haven’t seen that many of those and found it a satisfying and illuminating watch as a result.

Thank you, I’ve been wondering about that documentary.
