Why is my above post ‘awaiting moderation’? Kind of defeats the point of the post if it takes 24 hours so lets remove the link.
You can get the deluxe box of LITMW at POP Market for £35 until 5pm tomorrow UK time. The Beatles USB Apple will be on sale at the same place from 11pm tonight for 6 hours no idea what price.
Now it works. Must be the link. If you want either go to google and search for ‘Pop Market’.

I just saw that “Awaiting Moderation” on your post from 24 September 2012 5.32pm.
That is the third time I’ve seen that in past week and do not know wht is causing it. I did send Joe a PM regarding the 2 that I saw last week. Hopefully he can diagnose what is causing it to happen.
In any event, I released your post from the dreaded “Awaiting Moderation” status. Thanks much for your patience.

You are most welcome, sir. Joe investigated the other 2 posts this happened to. While the circumstances are dissimilar, the issue with your post could have had something to do with the link. The software that deems a post to be “Awaiting Moderation” is automated. His explanation can be found in the “Introduce Yourself…” thread.
And thank you for giving all of us the benefit of the doubt in regard to super intelligence.

I had a quiet night at work, so I sat down for 3.5 hours and watched it. A few thoughts:
– It was interesting how Scorcese mined so many ‘Anthology’ outtakes.
– While I didn’t need almost 2 hours of Beatles history re-cap, it’s always nice to see, and it was great that it focused on George’s experience, when much of his normally gets pushed aside over John & Paul.
– Once you get to the real meat of doc (the solo years), you get a real understanding that George was such a good and tender soul, with many people who truly loved him.
– I still can’t get over how he maintained his friendship with Eric Clapton, even immediately after Pattie left him.
– Did Olivia get a serious facelift? I mean, she’s beautiful but she doesn’t look much like she did in the 80s and 90s.
– The piece with Dhani near the end, about George’s fathering, was very touching. He seems like a very even-keeled man.
– But every time Dhani would talk, I would squint and try to identify the endless guitars hanging on the wall behind him…
In the end, it’s an essential doc. Now that we’ve had ‘Imagine : John Lennon ‘, the impossible-to-find-other-than-YouTube ‘Wingspan’, which is nice, but really feels like an extended EPK. I seriously think that Ringo deserves some sort of documentary. Obviously, it’s not going to be an epic yarn, but I really would be interested in the Ringo point of view of his pre-Beatles time, as well as his 70s solo years.
E is for 'Ergent'.

Just bought the 2-DVD film set today from the local shops – only $13 which seems a good price, I look forward to watching it soon. It’s been added to the stack of 40 or so CDs and DVDs by the fabs that I have to catch up on
On the demos CD disc – how is it? It is on sale for $15 at the moment (I like to support the local store even when prices are a bit outrageous).

Just watched LITMW again (third time) – wonderful, wonderful film. Fascinating to see the effect George had on people.
I first saw it at the movie theatre with a full house. The sound was superb and the buzz in the theatre was great.

Just finished the first DVD 10 minutes ago, loved it, time flew by and the sound was great – makes me think I might just have to go and get that CD now.

I bought this DVD when I was out in Germany a couple of months back. I’d already seen it on some website and I remember crying I think(?) But the 2nd time I watched it a couple of weeks ago, I bawled seriously- the most unattractive crying you have ever seen, blood shot eyes, runny nose it was disgusting and I cried for about an hour straight at 2am The only thing that annoyed me was the lack of “extras”- I think the documentary could have done with more “home video” footage and should I say it- less Beatles talk :O I mean we’ve all heard it before sure there were a couple of nice anecdotes but chancers are if you’re watching the documentary, you already know all about The Beatles.
I got it for a good deal anyways €10 but it’s a shame there are more extras on the “deluxe version”. Did anybody here even buy the deluxe version?

Thing is a lot of Beatles fans would’ve bought that – and when I say Beatles fans, I mean not particularly George fans. Make a doc and not talk about the Beatles much and you’re making your target market smaller, as they’d be Beatles fans who wouldn’t bother.

My wife and I saw it for the first time last night and we both cried.
The first time I watched it I was barely able to hold back the tears…until Ringo’s final recollection of George at the end. Then, it all came pouring out.
To me, losing a Beatle is like losing an older brother. I can’t, and frankly don’t care to, help it. It’s just the way it is.
Paul and Ringo are not allowed to die…unless all 3 of us die in the same car crash…and we lose our hair.

I don’t need to own a copy of this (altho I’ve already own about a dozen Scorsese flicks on dvd, lol) but I’m really glad I was able to catch it earlier in the year, thanks to my mother’s fancy cable box. (She really enjoyed it too.) So many unforgettable moments, some happy (seeing George sometime in the ’70s, watching – and delightedly laughing at! – a clip of himself and the boys performing a decade earlier), some sad (that notorious bit with Ringo.)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

You could really tell how much Olivia loved him. Her final speech at the end is what really got me.
I am currently re-reading I, Me, Mine (the republished edition from 2002). I had forgotten just how touching Olivia’s introduction in that book is.
Everyone should be loved by someone that much.
