The covers have now disappeared on both blu ray and DVD editions of AHDN on Amazon UK.

The design was changed a few days ago following negative feedback in the review comments, but reaction to the ‘improvement’ has been luke warm at best, just as critical at worst. I posted on Amazon that I have removed my pre-order and intend to buy the US Criterion release instead. I wonder if others have cancelled pre-orders too. I think surely Second Sight have got the message by now that fans really don’t like the intended design. I have my fingers crossed that a marked change is coming, and the pictures aren’t just gone temporarily for some prosaic reason.

Well, who says pester power doesn’t work… the AHDN UK blu ray/DVD design has now been changed, and to something much more lovely I think. Thank you Second Sight.

A picture of the Beatles from the film on the cover? Who would have thought it would work?
So much better.
Now, how about giving us all of the extras and stop all this nonsense about different countries getting slightly different bonus material.

Mark Lewisohn will be making his first public appearance in Canada to introduce a screening of AHDN on July 31 in Toronto. He’ll also be signing copies of Tune In.

I read somewhere that Cynthia Lennon is slated to be out in CA for the movie’s release; alas I am here in NJ. I’ll be fighting the hordes of people flocking to the shore for July 4 weekend, where the movie is playing closest to me.
I haven’t seen AHDN in like a zillion years. I never owned it, I borrowed it from the library! This is going to be a huge thrill, having it on the big screen as my reintroduction. Same with Help !; they’ll release that next summer, won’t they?

It was a webpage, some news agency’s article… it was when I had first heard about the movie going to theatres and so I started Googling it. I have to find it. I am going to try to go back in my web browser history but wish me luck.
Good luck. If it’s in LA, that would be awesome.

Oops that was my bad — I meant Pattie Boyd.
I’ve been reading more on John that Cynthia was on my mind instead.

I got my copy yesterday. The box looks very nice and it comes with a nice 80-page book with black and white and color photos. I haven’t watched it yet because I’ve been trying to get situated with a Blu-Ray player. I finally broke down and bought one. I wasn’t about to buy a new stereo receiver as well, so I had to get a digital-to-analog converter. Now I’m all set….but I don’t know whether I should watch it this week or wait until the July 6 screening.

Oh! Oh, dang, yeah, I posted about that on the news a while back. Breakfast with the Beatles has been giving away tickets, but you have to get yourself there, and that’s an expensive ferry ride for a movie.

You could watch the extras now and wait for the July 6 screening for the movie.

I wish I wasn’t such a perfectionist–I’ll probably end up just keeping this copy, but one of the pages of the book was creased in several spots during manufacture, and two of the tiny photos have “lines” going through them and a very slight “whitening” in one spot. The page is pressed down nicely, but the creases are definite, although slight. One of the creases runs down the back of John’s overcoat, and another one goes over the hood of a car next to Ringo, I believe.
Should I just keep it? I always end up with objects that are slightly defective, but then I have very high standards. It happens to me so often that I’m beginning to just resign myself to it. It takes such an effor to mail things back all the time.

I would send it back. Surely they know how imperfect condition ruins collectibles, and that all beatles items are collectible at this point. Call them quickly though so they don’t think you did it (though it sounds like it would be difficult to replicate even through abusive usage).
