The running sequence at the beginning could be cool in 3D. George tripping and falling in glorious 3D!
Yes… Catching George would be cool. Maybe milk would get on us from that one scene in the beginning, and it’d be like we were at the concert at the end!

Offline I haven’t yet watched disc 2 of the Miramax collector’s edition of A Hard Day’s Night , but it looks like the Criterion set will only be reproducing one of the extras on it, “Things They Said Today,” a 2002 documentary. Can anyone else confirm if there are other extras that will be repeated? It looks like I may want to hang on to my old discs.

Offline I’m going to sell my Miramax set before the Criterion version comes out, one, because it’ll be worth less by then so I should get rid of it now and 2) it’s part of the decluttering rule I’m trying to follow – don’t buy one thing unless you get rid of another.

Offline I understand the decluttering bit, but what makes you think the Miramax will go down in value? It will still have, among its extras, content that is exclusive to it, and is only likely to go up in value as a collectable as a result.

Offline Always hang onto your discs and videos as there will be bits that are unique to that release. A dvd doesn’t take up too much room does it?

An FB post from Second Sight Films from earlier this month:
RELEASE NEWS! A HARD DAYS NIGHT 50th Anniversary release is coming this Summer. The film will be in selected cinemas from July 4th when it will also begin an Extended Run of 2 weeks at BFI Southbank with a special preview and talk by Richard Lester on July 3rd. It will also be available to download from this date and be followed on July 21st by the Blu-ray and DVD release. More details will follow soon….

* The new 4K version of A Hard Day’s Night will screen in 50 US cities. I haven’t yet come across a full list of cities, but the LA Times mentions it will screen for a week at Cinefamily, the place where the Albert Maysles tribute took place.

I’ll be keeping mine, though I do understand the clutter thing. While I don’t have the largest collection among folks here I do have around 10 book-cases full of CDs and DVDs / blurays; and around 3 boxes looking for a home.

Offline Who the hell is that on the cover? Surely it would be better having a photo of the Beatles instead of some horrid tribute act. First Tune In and now this abomination.
