I’m really looking forward to this. Criterion normally do very good reissues. Also hoping the cinema release comes to this part of the world.

Wogblog‘s article on the dvd. Not that chuffed about having to buy a blu-ray to get everything when i don’t have a blu-ray player. Anyone know if there is a technical reason for this, something to do with what is being included possibly?

No, the reason is that Blu-Ray is not catching on as fast as the corporations would like, so they are releasing things on Blu-Ray only or Blu-Ray DVD combo now, to get people to switch.

Lovely. So the people are saying “blu-ray eh? no thanks” and the company are saying “you want the extra’s so “? Charming.

True.
I’ve still to get the Help ! and MMT dvd’s as i cant be bothered shelling out £15 each for them. I still have MMT from the BBC screening back in October along with the Arena documentary cutting down on having to find the dvd, find the control and wait for it to load in the machine. A press of a button and its .

I wish someone had told me two years ago there would be new versions of everything coming out.
By the way (don’t want to get too far off topic but felt like saying it), one of the reasons I haven’t switched to Blu-Ray is I have a lot of foreign DVDs and an all-region player. Do they make all-region Blu-Ray players yet?

Could be worse. You could have bought one of the £300+ AHDN dvd’s on amazon.

I’ve preordered mine from Criterion (it’s only 3 dollars more). Amazon has really declined over the last several years. They now charge sales tax in my state, their packaging is much worse resulting in things arriving damaged, free shipping is now on orders over 35 dollars instead of 25, and they’ve just increased the cost of Prime.

I’m still on Amazon student, which is Prime at a lower price, so I’m still milking it for what it’s worth. I’ll miss it when the time’s up.

Forgive me if it’s already been mentioned, but according to WogBlog a company called Second Sight are handling the release in the UK.
No info yet but their website is http://www.secondsightfilms.co.uk/

Wogblog reports of a screening of AHDN in Leeds on “Tuesday 29 April at 8:15 pm at the oldest cinema in Leeds, England, the historic 102 year old Cottage Road Cinema. Supported by a full vintage programme and one VERY special surprise, they tease. Booking in advance is strongly advised for this one off Beatles show. Tickets: £5 Seniors, Children & Students. £6 Adults”.
Disappointingly the same article writes that “promoters say that this will be the only screening anywhere in the UK of A Hard Day’s Night “.
Another post on Wogblog says that the aspect ratio of the remaster will now be the original 1:75:1 instead of 1:66:1 as first reported.

What a stupid move, they could get millions off screenings of AHDN * in cinemas. Loads of people would go and see it more than once (I know I would…if I lived near to a cinema). If this is anything like Paul’s ‘Rockshow’ reissue in cinemas then I’d have to go to Limerick and Limerick is too far away
*And later DVD/CD sales from people seeing it for the first time

The running sequence at the beginning could be cool in 3D. George tripping and falling in glorious 3D!
