At the helpful suggestion of one of the moderators, I’m going to start putting Fab Files‘ forthcoming episodes in this topic, and will date them so you guys know what episode is coming up. I didn’t want to be filling up the Radio/TV section too much, so it just made sense to do it all here.
For those not in the know, Fab Files is the little public radio show I produce and host that looks weekly in the music, the legacy and the mystique of the Beatles. There are other Beatles-specific radio shows (Breakfast with the Beatles is probably the best known), but Fab Files is unique in that we devote an entire hour-long episode focusing on a certain topic. Past episodes include the Paul is Dead hoax, Best and Worst Beatles Covers, the Anthology albums (one episode dedicated to each Anthology album), Beatles vs. Rutles, Beatles influences (“Watch Your Step” inspiring “I Feel Fine ,” etc.), songs about the Beatles, music from the Beatle kids, Mono vs. Stereo and so much more.
Here’s how to get Fab Files on your computer:
1.) Go to http://www.etsu.edu/wets/
2.) Click the “Listen Live” link at the center of your screen. Here’s the direct link: http://www.etsu.edu/wets/progr…..isten.aspx
3.) It’ll take you to a page where you have the options of three radio streams: HD1, HD2, and HD3. Fab Files airs on FM/HD1 on Friday nights and HD2 on Saturday afternoons and late Sunday nights. You have the options of hearing it via Windows Media (probably the easiest way, especially on a PC), on iTunes, on your iPhone, or on Tunein.com.
The show airs Friday nights at 10 PM on WETS FM/HD1 as well as Saturday afternoons at 3 PM EDT and Sunday nights/Monday mornings at midnight EDT on WETS HD2.
And that’s how you can access the show! Hope you can tune in, and feedback is always encouraged!

This week’s episode focuses on the year 1970, a year when the Beatles broke up and pursued solo projects. We’ll look at all of those projects, from Beaucoups of Blues to McCartney to All Things Must Pass , among others. We’ll also look into the Spectorization of Let It Be , and Yoko sings… or warbles… for us all. 1970, on this week’s Fab Files Saturday August 31st at 11 AM (EDT) and Monday September 2nd at midnight on WETS HD2. Hope you all enjoyed last week’s 1970 episode, and coming up this week on the Fab Files, it’s our last year in review for the Fab Four as I take a look back at 1974, a year that saw unprecedented chart success for Paul, John and Ringo. But not for George, as sadly laryngitis got him good, as you’ll hear this week. Plus, Yoko Ono and Elton John! Not together, though. 1974, on this week’s Fab Files Saturday morning at 11 AM (EDT) and late Sunday night at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. Alright audiophiles, we’re going Mono vs. Stereo on this week’s Fab Files episode as we investigate the differences in the sound of the songs from mono to stereo as well as some differences in the songs as well. What’s with the false start on “I’m Looking Through You “? What’s duophonic stereo? And who’s Dave Dexter, Jr? Tune in and find out! Mono vs. Stereo, on this week’s Fab Files Saturday, September 14 at 11 AM (EDT) and late Sunday September 15 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. Two weeks ago, I promised The Beatles’ Story episode of the Fab Files, the episode that looked at the 1964 documentary album that slightly exaggerates the Beatles’ rise to world domination. Only, I played the wrong episode. Well, this week, The Beatles’ Story will be played in full… for real… no seriously, I mean it this time. The Beatles’ Story, on this week’s Fab Files, Saturday October 5 at 11 AM (EDT) with a re-broadcast late Sunday October 6 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. I love The Beatles Story. Such a strange double album. When I was first buying the Beatles back in the 80s strangely it and Vee-Jay’s Hear The Beatles Tell All were stocked in most record-store chains. I think I got it at Virgin in Lewisham. Packed away now in one of my vinyl boxes. One reason I remember it is because the first disc was sides 1 & 3, and the second disc was was sides 2 & 4. It also featured a bit of Twist And Shout at the Hollywood Bowl. The only official glimpse of those concerts until 1977. Looking forward to the show.

Hear the Beatles Tell All will be on next week’s show, actually. Hope you all can make it for that show as well.

On this week’s Beatle bonanza it’s 2 topics in 1 show! This episode’s more overstuffed than an Olive Garden chicken marsala. The first half of this week’s show will look at the 1964 interview album Hear the Beatles Tell All, the album that sparked The Beatles’ Story from last week. Then the second half will highlight tracks from the 2006 album Love that went with the Cirque de Soleil show of the same show. Hear the Beatles Tell All and Love on this week’s Fab Files Saturday October 12 at 11 AM (EDT) with a re-broadcast late Sunday October 13 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. On this week’s Beatle Bonanza (Beatlenanza?), we look at George Harrison ‘s Dark Horse Records label, the company that ran from 1974 till 1992 with a brief resurrection in 2002. George’s music largely dominates the episode, but we also have his good buddy Ravi Shankar and his musical family, as well as a studio band who was led by a man better known as an ace producer than as a musician. Dark Horse Records, on this week’s Fab Files Saturday October 19 at 11 AM (EDT) and late Sunday October 20 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. For all of you Fab Forum freaks with kids (or grandkids), get them to listen to the Fab Files this week as I play the kid-friendliest Beatle songs I can think of. From “I Want To Hold Your Hand ” to “Hey Jude ” and all points in between, this episode introduces the kids to the Beatles, briefly discuss what made them so great, and plays the songs that (with any luck) will soon be their favorite songs. It’s like a history class, only cooler and with no homework! Beatles for Kids, on this week’s Fab Files Saturday October 26 at 11 AM with a re-broadcast late Sunday October 27 at midnight on WETS HD2. I keep forgetting to listen to this! Sundays at 11 I’m usually sleeping in or going out to breakfast. One of these days I’ll remember, tho. Sounds like I’ve missed some potentially cool stuff but I’m sure there’ll be more!
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I’ve never heard my voice described as “American Top 40” before. I kinda like that description. I did used to work in commercial radio (though never on-air), so maybe that’s the reason why. But thanks for listening to the last 50 minutes. I’ve got two Paul themed episodes forthcoming, so you’ll get your Paul fix yet.
