I’d be happy watching Paul mack on a paper bag.
Perhaps that’s on the virtual reality machine Zig gave me for Christmas. If it pops up on the screen, I’ll let the Paulettes know.

From Hey Dullblog
So, as I scrape the merde from my shoes, be diverted by these highlights, offered in chronological order, and in successive posts. (Originally, this was going to be a Top 10 list, but I found that, with Ringo’s movies, that’s simply too much of a stretch.)

Interesting article. Thanks. Too bad he didn’t stick with acting; I think he had a great deal of potential.

Appreciate that link, Parlance, thanks. I’d really like to see “That’ll Be The Day” someday. And I’d LOVE to see “Magic Christian” again! (It’s been about 20 years since I saw it last.) (And DAMN, how can such a huge Frank Zappa fan like myself STILL not have seen “200 Motels”??)
Another great Ringo film appearance is as himself in the Who documentary “The Kids Are Alright”, bantering and bullshitting with his good friend Keith Moon (about how drummers have it good because they can use their cymbals to deflect rotten fruit thrown by hostile audiences). They’re both admittedly drunk but seem so cheerful about it that it’s easy just enjoy them, and forget the fact of their eventual serious alcoholism.

Oh, Ringo was very good. He was. He’s a good lad.
He was. They’re saying he’s a new Charlie Chaplin.
Oh, well, he’s an old one.

Accidentally voted for George in the poll, but Ringo was the best actor, which is probably why AHDN and Help ! had plot-lines that seemed to revolve around him.
Then George, a scene in AHDN that shows that is in the office, the scene that he uses the word grotty.
John was really good at ad-libbing, a lot of his AHDN lines were ad-libbed like “Look a bird!” That and he was really funny which goes with the ad-libbing I guess, but in my opinion still third.
And Paul definately wasnt a bad actor, but he wasn’t as good as the other 3.

Richard Lester weighs in on the debate at the recent 50th anniversary screening of A Hard Day’s Night :
Speaking to NME before the premiere screening of the remastered 50th anniversary version of the film at London’s BFI Southbank last night (July 3), he also assessed the acting skills of the four Beatles, saying George was the best in the band “because he didn’t try to do too much, but always hit it right in the middle,” and that Paul McCartney “was so enthusiastic he perhaps tried too hard.” John Lennon , meanwhile, “had some cutting words for me at times” and said there were concerns beforehand over Ringo Starr ‘s solo scene, filmed along the Thames near Kew Gardens, but Lester didn’t doubt for a moment that the drummer could do what was asked of him.

Paul on his own acting abilities in the new Rolling Stone article debuting the video for “Early Days “:
As for himself, the former Beatle disavows any interest in taking up acting. “No, I don’t think it’s my thing,” he says. “I get self-conscious in front of a movie camera. Off-camera, I can impersonate, I can do this and that, and I’ll think, ‘I could be such a great actor.’ Then they say ‘Action!’ and turn the camera on, and I go uh-uh-uh-uh-uh…I just don’t think I’m a natural.
“But you know what?” he adds with a laugh. “I’ve got enough to do.”

If Paul ever does decide to give acting another go its to know we have the very tool to persuade him not to. Shame we didnt have it in 1982.

I would go for either Ringo or John. Ringo’s great, he knows what he’s doing. I have always loved his solo scenes in AHDN and it’s no wonder the central storyline in Help ! was revolved around him. And John is just being John all the time, which he knows how to do perfectly. George is third, he’s alright. There’s not much I can add to George. And Paul is last, lol. I actually came to say how Paul is self-conscious in front of the camera but then I saw the quote by @parlance … yes, Paul, you are! But he can already do SO many things well (musician, singer, composer, producer, businessman) that I’m glad to see there’s something he can’t do well!

I would have to say Ringo as he was so good at playing the poor put upon lad who always seemed to “want his mam”…In Magical Mystery Tour , I found the scenes with him and his aunt constantly bickering very entertaining.
No Oscars here but my favourite moment, and in the same film, was John as a wizard waiting for the bus….hilarious…
And my bird can't sing......!!

I know everyone says Ringo was the best actor and that’s why all their movies revolved around him, but I disagree. I think George was the best at scripted acting, but I voted for John because he could ad-lib with the best of them. And he has so many brilliant scenes. One that he does a great job in is the spaghetti scene in Magical Mystery Tour , where he just keeps smiling and shoveling more spaghetti… And yes, I realize how ridiculous it is to use Magical Mystery Tour for examples of good acting
Love one another.
