I think John was the best. His acting in A Hard Day’s Night was especially good: just the one scene where he is having an extended, seemingly improvised repartee with that actress (whose name I don’t know) is excellent. I never saw that war movie he was in, but I suspect he was good in that.
Ringo I’d say is second best (it’s no accident he was in The Magic Christian and held his own next to Peter Sellers).
Paul was okay in both A Hard Day’s Night and Help ! but he was really kind of floating off his own natural charisma, while his acting in his own Give My Regards To Broad Street was quite stilted.
Faded flowers, wait in a jar, till the evening is complete... complete... complete... complete...

I don’t think ANY of them can act – they are all just being themselves, or a screen version of themselves – every time I have seen them. They remind me of the way some ‘actors’ like John Wayne just play the same part with different lines.

That’s a great question. None of the Beatles would win Oscars for their acting excellence…mainly because they were just being themselves. If one had to stand out, I would nominate John because he was such a character.
This is true, lol. But they were so cute in the snow scene in “Help !”. I would give them an Oscars anyway.

Based on “The Magic Christian” and his extended solo scenes in “A Hard Day’s Night “, I can pretty easily say Ringo. But George proved himself to be a great performer in his collaborations with Eric Idle. I’d have to see “How I Won The War” before I could better evaluate John’s acting talent. And poor Paulie…I really hate to say it, but I really dislike him when he’s trying to “act”, he wants so badly to be loved by everybody all the time.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

John’s “How I Won the War” role was basically tailored around his own persona, so it really wasn’t much more of a stretch than the stuff he did in “A Hard Day’s Night ” and “Help !.” But he fits in nicely with the surrealism of the film. Ringo was hands-down the best actor for reasons already given. Plus, he managed to carry “Caveman” without a single line of dialogue (granted, like “Broad Street,” it’s a pretty silly movie ).

I love George’s scene in A Hard Day’s Night where he’s talking to the executive about fashion. Funniest scene in the whole movie. Ringo’s close though.

I don’t think any of them can act aswell haha but Paul seemed like he was trying too hard in A Hard Day’s Night but was better in Help ! John more or less seemed his roles were just tailored to his personality. Ringo… The movies are what makes me love and appreciate Ringo it’s easy to get caught up with the other 3 but I think the movies are Ringo’s time to shine. I think George was consistent acting wise he seemed to me the best out of the 4 although Help ! is frustrating that it takes awhile in the beginning before he actually says something.
But if you want money for people with minds that hate... All I can tell you is brother you have to wait. Alright.

Wilfred Brambell not of the Beatles. Of the Beatles, John. He did great acting as himself. He did the iceman scene. I’ve never seen Magical Mystery Tour , I’ve seen clips and Jhon is always great.
We were talking about the people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion.

Ringo and John are quite good; their personalities shine appealingly through the screen. George is very decent and easy to watch. Paul is reliably bad. I’m pretty sure his solo scene in A Hard Day’s Night got cut ’cause it was real real bad.

"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"
Hahaha! If you’d ever seen Wendy Richard in EastEnders you might think differently. (She died in 2009; that’s Frankie Howerd in the scene with her and Paul.)

Oh yeah, she was definitely a babe in Are You Being Served! I used to love that show, it was hilarious, and she was quite easy on the eyes 8)

Forgive the rotten typing in my last post: Wendy was not considering to be quite the looker, she was considered to be quite the looker.
