It’s great to see it being released but is there going to be talking heads floating on the screen?
Spotlighting this singular cultural moment and its continued resonance today, the music and footage are augmented by newly filmed interviews with Paul and Ringo, as well as fans whose lives were transformed by The Beatles.
I understand it’s a documentary etc and I’m very different to most people but I really don’t care about hearing from anyone but the Beatles, and even then preferably archive not nowadays. It’s one reason why I didn’t care for ‘EDAW’. Just give me the footage and the music.

I would like anything from Paul and Ringo i can get. One day we won’t get to hear from them anymore.

We never talk about this….never!
Anyway. this is great news. The Beatles have had some major releases in the past years. Its amazing how big they still are, 50+ years after their break up. There wont ever be a band like this again.
Getting such great new content is amazing. Will be another great part of my Beatles winter with Liverpool and the big big event on 14th of December.

I’m not very hyped on this one, honestly. Sounds very similar to the Eight Days A Week thingie and i couldn’t care less about Beatles fans stories on how much the beatles changed their lifes in oh so many ways and blahblahblah…no way.

I do hope it gets a theatrical release as it would be fabulous to see the footage on the big screen, maybe Apple will have the sense to do so and not have it left to ruminate on Disney+.

It certainly sounds similar to ‘EDAW’ and even the demix of the Washington concert has led to speculation of using the studio recordings as the base, like what happened with ‘EDAW’ and something else I forget.
I live in hope that Apple will have some sense and do this properly, but if they don’t it will at least provide more footage for fans to be able to create a release which utilizes all the material available.
Best to wait for more details and reviews.

You’re right, @KyleKartan. I got goosebumps at the end. I should have taken a picture of my arm, but I just wanted to sit there and let the moment wash over me.

Yippee. Talking heads telling us how great and funny the Beatles were – why can’t we just have footage of the Beatles being funny and great like with ‘Get Back ‘?
I’ll probably watch it somewhere, hopefully in the cinema, but its a more focused upon one year ‘EDAW’ which we don’t need.
Some fan will have the incredible idea of editing all the available footage together into one long film. Thankfully.

Okay, not to be that guy, – and I realize I’m nit-picking here and that you probably don’t mean it literally, but just in case: Who is “We”? Really,. Who exactly says “We” don’t need this? Superfans? Well, I certainly am one and I say we need it, so you surely can’t be talking about me. You also can’t be talking about the people above me who both were quite taken in by the trailer, as was I. So much so in fact they got goosebumps. I’d wager that that alone justifies it’s existence enough to be “Needed” for quite a few people. 🙂
Now, I get it: Would I rather the Hollywood Bourgeoisie stay out of it and leave it to Paul and Ringo to tell their story? You bet I would. I also understand that this won’t be anything you or I don’t already know. Here’s the thing, though: As long as it’s done with love and care, I don’t mind hearing a story I love told over again. Especially when it will feature the two who are left to tell it the way it was. As I said earlier in the thread, one day all of us will suddenly change from “Why are they talking about it again?” to “I wish they were here to talk with us again” and when that day comes, we’re going to treasure everything they left us including this. So yes, I’ll watch it with bells on. I’ll roll my eyes at the people who didn’t give a damn back then suddenly acting like they were fans from he begining, sure, but I’ll also enjoy watching them be forced to admit to the whole world that The Beatles are the greatest band in the history of music, because that NEVER gets old. Every generation needs to hear it and if necessary, swallow it down like a bitter pill if that’s what it takes.
Think of it this way: New fans will be made because of this, as with every Beatles thing. That’s the best part! There will be people that CRY over seeing all this for the first time, and those people are going to have an experience you or I can no longer have. An experience that we WISH we could have again. Seeing how good they were for the first time,
That is VERY important. no matter how many times or ways it’s been done.

Glad to have something new to anticipate. John’s comment at the end about being jolly English is so good. You can see again why the US and the world fell in love with them. The songs were good but the humour seals the deal.

I just watched it. The original footage looks great. One good thing about watching it on a streaming platform is you can skip all the talking heads and stuff.Apart from the good quality of the original footage, little else.
Unfortunately, it feels like a missed opportunity. I found it pleasant to watch, but I would have preferred something more immersive. There were too many talking heads taking you out of the time and place, they also featured Yesterday & In My Life which weren’t written yet. The restored footage looked and sounded great. On the plus side it inspired me to break out an old budget dvd with grainy footage of the Washington concert and muse on how low quality full performances are better than fully restored fragments.

I have a few days off next week so may watch this then but the reviews from fans are average so will see. No doubt some fan will put all the February ’64 footage together at some point which is far more interesting – I don’t need to watch Smokey Robinson.

Just to see Ringo beating the hell out of his drums at Long Tall Sally would be worth having a restored version of the concert at Washington Colliseum.

I’m seeing this reaction quite a bit. I’ve got a chip on my shoulder that’s bigger than my feet, I can’t talk to people that I meet, if I could see you now I’d try to make you sad somehow, but I can’t, so I’ll cry instead.
But alas, I’ll sit down on the weekend and see for myself.

I would love them to release a DVD of all of the live footage restored both visually and sound, no documentary.

All the live performances restored and released as DVD (blu ray, or whatever other physical format) would be such a wonderful thing to do from Apple Corps. Also releasing the original Maysles brothers footage, completely restored and without all the external people giving us their completely irrelevant opinion on how amazing the beatles were , etc… would be a phenomenal thing to do.
