I was a little surprised that I couldn't find any threads on this film, so I decided to start my own.
Personally, I found the covers of the songs to be fantastic! Messing with the Beatles is always a huge risk, but in this case it payed off.
The visuals were fantastic, notably during the psychedelic sequences for the songs “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!” and “I Want You (She's so Heavy).
At times, I felt that lyrics or sections of the songs were being taken too literally, and quality of plot was at times sacrificed in order to make a song work. Especially with the characters- some of them had true potential, but went nowhere (notably Prudence and JoJo)!
Altogether, the movie wasn't half bad. I especially enjoyed searching for Easter Eggs.
This movie gets out of 5
It's been mentioned before, but I don't think anyone's started a thread on it.
I haven't seen it, but some of the clips on YouTube were enough to put me off. I'm not the target audience though.
Just to check that I'm thinking of the right thing, that's the one with Eddie Izzard as Mr Kite, right? Makes me shudder to remember…

I just recently watched the movie, and personally I didn't really like it. The acting wasn't very good and the plot line seemed pretty scattered. There where a lot of times I didn't even know what was going on. Like during the Strawberry Fields sequence, I wasn't sure what they where trying to do there. The music was great though, so that made up for some of the bad acting.
I'd give it and a half apples out of 5 if I had to give it a rating.

Off topic: could we get half of an apple?
On topic: I have seen parts, but it was Bono that put me off. Not that I have anything against Bono, I just didn't like his version of I Am The Walrus . I've Just Seen a Face and Let It Be were alright.
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

I don’t usually like Beatles covers but I don’t mind these ones, a few of them are done really well. It’s sort of like the Beatles version of Mamma Mia, where key moments and characters are derived from Beatles songs, so I thought that was quite clever. I think the scenes with Bono and Eddie Izzard are probably two of the most cringeworthy tbh, but as a whole I’d say the film was alright.
out of 5 for me. 🙂
I think it's great you're going through a phase, and I'm awfully glad it'll all be over in a couple of days

Mhhh I don't like musicals and I think the covers were very good… but the story was a bit silly. Sometimes it was like watching literal video (Like Dear Prudence ). And the introducing of the characters were like “Oh look here's Jojo, she's Rita, and that's Martha, and here's Prudence.. and wait.. what's the name of that song in Sgt. Pepper ? Ah yeah Lucy!!”. It was a bit silly.
But some songs and scenes were good. For example, If I Fell was quite nice. But to be honest, if I want to watch a movie with Beatles music, I'd rather watch Yellow Submarine , or A Hard Day's Night.

I must say, I'm maybe not rational because she's Mexican, but I loved Salma Hayek as the Mother Superior.
Again, the movie has nice bits, but since I don't like musicals, I didn't enjoy it much.

Do you not like “Help !”

Wow mithveaen, pulling out Maleficent, that's pretty harsh. I haven't seen the film but I've heard a few songs from the soundtrack and have seen that awful Mr Kite cover on youtube, which really turned me off from seeing it. And I agree with you skye, too much Bono.

(Oh Maleficent is just someone truly misunderstood)
I've forgotten Bono. I love that man, but I didn't like this cover. Now I don't like this movie, but 3 of my nephews love it, 2 of them are Beatle fans and 1 is not, but he loves musicals. So I guess it's more for people who love these kinds of movies rather than Beatle fans….

The actors were quite attractive. And when I say actors I mean Jim Sturgess. (SEXY!)
The covers weren't that bad, although I almost vomited when they sang Because in the water……naked. “That was uncalled for!”-Lexxi
All in all, I would give the movie 4 apples.

Well of course but they did that in the field, remember? They were laying in a circle after the circus I believe?
