These are on youtube; And I Love Her and Tell Me Why from the film ‘A Hard Day’s Night ‘ (both running too slow) have to some extent been colourised

NO, GOD PLEASE GOD NO!!!!paul-mccartneypaul-mccartneypaul-mccartney they all look like they’re caked in foundation especially in the “Tell Me Why ” video,.

I’m not to fond of watching The Beatles in colour especially their early years, it’s too weird even the ’63 concert in Manchester is hard to watch even if it was originally filmed in colour! But colourising A Hard Day’s Night , the end of the world is upon us a-hard-days-night-ringo-2

What bothers me more than anything is that at times John looks like an oompa-looma caked in orange. And of course the colour adds absolutely nothing to the film. Here’s hoping Apple dont think it looks good and give us it for the 50th – tho surely they would get the colours right.

It’s so weird seeing it colourised, and it doesn’t feel right. AHDN wasn’t filmed in colour, so why change it??

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

Simple answer is: money. It’s the same with Laurel and Hardy films being colourised, although it completely wrecks the footage and the feel of the movie

OMG, I would hate seeing it like that. I can understand something like the video for All You Need Is Love (flowers, colorful outfits, summer of love etc.), but in this case it makes no sense.

Ive seen some of the colourised Laurel and Hardy and so much is lost thru the process, the humour works in b&w and there is something timeless in each one which is lost when colour is added. For me its the same with A Hard Days Night; there is a timelessness in the black and white and it fits perferctly for that time. All You Need Is Love benefits from the colour due to the psychedelic times, there was something transcending in Anthology when it started out in b&w and then blossomed and came alive. For me AYNIS looked wrong in b&w.

I really can’t imagine what potential audience the powers-that-be think they’re aiming for when they’re colourizing old Laurel & Hardy films, to be honest. Do they truly think it’s the lack of colour, and nothing else, that makes these films unappealing to people who haven’t yet reached retirement age?

I get the feeling that the vast majority of those people who say “I don’t like black & white movies” really mean that they don’t like OLD movies, period. Or think they don’t, and have never tried to watch them. And that the same vast majority would still rush out to see the latest “Dark Knight” instalment even if Christopher Nolan did decide to go arty and film that in black & white.

I’d still love to see AHDN in colour though, IF it’s done right. Just curious.

Yikes!a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

I was never a fan of colorized B&W movies. These 2 videos do nothing to change that.

In the one for ‘Tell Me Why ‘, John’s close up at about :30 seconds in makes him look 20 years older than he really is.a-hard-days-night-john-5

One of the many things that I liked about the movie is that it was made in black and white. I hope someone doesn’t see an oppurtunity to “celebrate” the 50th anniversary of movie in 2014 by releasing it in color.

The way Apple work we’ll get another documentary, some interviews, a couple of mini-rarities (so fans can go woo-hoo) and a heap of crap merchandise that takes the bottom of the barrel, goes into the wood, finds a newly-dead woodworm and releases that. Anyone want a Limited Edition (to only 4 million) Hard Days Night Bottle Sharpener or Candle Wax Box (for all your melted candle wax)? Only $39.99 each. If new crap can be sold you can bank on Apple to discover it and sell it rip-off prices.

Sounds great except for the merchandise though. I’d like to see some behind the screens stuff and maybe some bloopers or deleted scenes.

Its pretty cool, but I prefer to keep it black and white. I’m not really a fan of b&w movie turning into color, its just not the same. The weirdest one I seen was Reefer Madness, a 1936 b&w movie someone colorized. The cigarette & weed smoke was pink and blue and the people looked really caked.

I notice some of the footage in the Tell Me Why video wasn’t from A Hard Day’s Night . Some of the footage was from the Manchester concert footage from 1963 and Shea Stadium 1965.
